I read, thought, experimented and tweaked.
This is the final result for The Keeper by Pygmy Beat Extended.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/go75ibydqshszov/MST%20A%20thekeeper.mp3?dl=0

BIAB RealDrums Modern even 8 - no reverb or FX from BIAB
Bob Harris on all vocals
Greg Loyacano on LP guitars & Marshall amp (trem on chorus)
Me on Vantage bass into Joyo MXR comp clone into Behringer BDI21 (Sansamp clone) into Focusrite 8i6 interface.

Mainly recorded and mix in Reaper.
RealDrums imported into Reaper via the DAW Plugin mode.
A little EQ to tame the hihat and a little compression.
Mastered by Fran Ashcroft of Happy Beat records UK.
The Keeper
And the keeper did come
Bringing keys for the cage
He walked through the corridor
And onto the stage

As he turned to the crowd
Seated in his mind
And searched all the faces
For a love lost to find

His tears fell like kisses
On dark xenophobes
And his eyes blinked like lanterns’
Beneath unlight strobes
As he turned to the crowd
Crowded with their thoughts
Subconscious of the time
And of how it distorts.

And so bowing he turned
And he walked to the wings
His mind floated in mem’ries
Of less painful things

He followed the chalk marks
On the bare timber walls
On past lighthouses dormant
And through empty halls

As he turned to the crowd
Pinned like ghosts enthralled
In the spotlight’s arc
As his past reinstalled

Still on through the evening
Of a starless white sky
To a place where the hangman
Himself had to die

As he turned to the crowd
On earth and on snow
To fade into Present,
Past Future to know

Cheers

I like this Ray! Great live feel! And having it mastered by a real studio engineer is a real plus too!

I really enjoyed everybody's playing.

Ray,

That rocks!

You have a great "Green Day sound" happening. The lead vocal needs some "beef" - it's just a tad "thin". Up maybe 2 dB. And add some low end EQ - a good bump in the low mid end - between 200 and 500... (and perhaps a touch of delay).

But, again... this rocks!

Nice.

Hi Ray,

Well.... that sure has all the elements of a real rock song!
We don't hear many of those here on the forum.
Nice job.

Very cool!! This really feels live and has authenticity! I agree with Floyd that the vocals could bite a little more but the performance is killer! Great job!! Take care. Greg

Pat, thanks.
It's nice to have finished it. I decided to mix to my taste this time. It was fun working with Greg & Bob.

Floyd,
Thanks. The vox are a result of the EQing by the singer. The tone is as he wanted it (though he wanted more level & reverb).
I'll keep your suggestions in mind for the next project.

RnMA,
Thanks very much. I did note, when fiddling about with styles, that BIAB is formidable at quite a few styles but not aggressive rock so t'was lucky that I had access to a guitarist who adds that element.

Greg,
You're generous. As noted above I;ve mixed this for me this time around - I usually employ or at least experiment with any/all suggestions but for this one I wanted things to sound like they did in my head.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
