Here's a new mix of a song a wrote over a year ago. I added a new guitar track which I played of my strat and I did a lot of mixing and added some new effects. All real tracks - KEBMO Style-Crossover- with 382 Slide guitar , 379 Bass, Real Drums POP16, snare- ride, 378 Acoustic guitar, and 381 Electric rhythm guitar. I did a lot of volume editing to get the feel of a band playing off of each other. Here's the link. http://sclk.co/s7e1p5

Arrow in My Heart

As I am walking down the streets of your city
All the faces turn away from me, they turn away in pity
'Cause they see this empty shell of a man whose soul is empty
And he seems to have a problem with every breath he is attempting

Oh and, Baby, I feel so down
Ever since, since you are not around
Oh,oh, Nothing seems to be the same
And I'm feeling all this pain
Feels like.

Like an Arrow in my Heart
Where everything has been torn apart
Like an Arrow in my Heart
And I'm falling , falling down
And I'm writhing, writhing on the ground
With an Arrow in my Heart oh,oh oh oh oh

You made your point, but you know I must defend
Myself, don't want to go over this and over this again
It's two o'clock and we are getting to the part I really dread
How can I sleep when you keep on talk talk talking in my head

And, Baby, I feel so down
Ever since, since you are not around
Oh,oh, Nothing seems to be the same
And I'm feeling all this pain
Feels like.

Like an Arrow in my Heart
Where everything has been torn apart
Like an Arrow in my Heart
And I'm falling , falling down
And I'm writhing, writhing on the ground
With an Arrow in my Heart oh,oh oh oh oh

Like an Arrow in my Heart
Like an Arrow in my Heart

Interesting title and metaphor! The song has a lot of passion and intensity. The vocal control could be better. Enjoyable listen! Take care. Greg

Hi Greg, Thanks for taking time to listen and I'm happy the song caught your interest. It was a departure from the more structured kind of song I normally write. I had thought about redoing the vocal but decided to leave it as is, I hear it as an edgy alt rock song with a kind of less than perfect singer anyway, if ya know what I mean. Greetings to Davis, go Cal State!--Pete

A good energy to that, Pete. Has a "live garage band" sound to it. A definite alt-rock/americana sound. I particularly like the drum sound you got...

I enjoyed the listen.

HI David! I'm happy you like my song. I'm very familiar with NSAI so I know you have a strong knowledge of songwriting and the music industry. I was a member of the LA and Orange County Chapters for several years before I moved to Portland and have been thinking of checking out the Portland group. I also did the Song Camp and visited the HQ in Nashville. I haven't seen Fred or Carrie, but I've been to the feminist bookstore and have met the two musician gals that were featured on some of those episodes. Strangely and don't hold it against me , but what spurred me to write this was seeing Justin Beaver on the old Tonight Show. It was the rhythm of his lyric and how it wrapped around the music. If you listen to just the acoustic guitar in the KEBMO style it has that New Jack Swing that pushes the song into that alt-rock style. Well I'm going on - so thanks David and nice to meet you here at BIAB.

Thanks Floyd, Yeah that was exactly the musical category I was aiming for. What I'm mulling over now is whether this is worth pursuing in my two man (both over 70) guitar duo?

The Drums - one thing I love about BIAB is having the separate tracks come in to Digital Performer - and the Real Drums are great - and then being able to use the extensive effects - compression - limiter - room ambient reverb - at the individual track level as well as the Master Mix level. DP's Spatial Maximizer is a great new addition. I'm still trying to learn how a little spice goes a long way in the soup and not overload the mix. In the stereo spread I keep the drums, bass and lead vocal in or near the center. Always interested how others do their mix.

Thanks again, Pete

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
