I Still Do - Remix

This is a remix of the same song I posted several weeks ago. I removed the vocal harmony - it just didn't sound that good with it. I dropped a little lower-end EQ on the lead vocal and cleaned up a few individual words. I then very slightly brought the vocal more forward in the mix - not very much. Hopefully it resonates a little better now.

Thanks for listening! And if you have time to listen to the original, tell me which one sounds better, in your opinion. Here's a link to the original, if you're interested:

I Still Do
© 2017 Alan D. David, BMI

(v1)
The sky gets gloomy, as the clouds roll in
That’s when I know, you’re back in town in again
The thunder rattles, and the leaves begin to shake
The wind starts swirling, and frost begins to form
Then lightning crackles, you’re the perfect storm
The ground starts trembling, just like an earthquake

CHORUS
And when you left, I thought that was goodbye
But now I know, I told myself a lie
You made me hurt, and you treated me like dirt
Oh I wish I didn’t love you
But baby I still do

(v2)
Don’t know the reason, I can’t explain
Why I still love you, when you caused me all that pain
God only knows, why I wish you’d never gone
I hear my heart, then I listen to my head
They say forget you, find another love instead
But I just can’t find a way, a way for moving on

INSTRUMENTAL VERSE

CHORUS
And when you left, I thought that was goodbye
But now I know, I told myself a lie
You made me hurt, and you treated me like dirt
Oh I wish I didn’t love you
But baby I still do

TAG
Baby I still do

Alan,
The changes are subtle - yes, the vocal cuts through the mix little more.
Its a really good song in both versions!

Hey David,

Thank ya! Good to hear the mix sounds decent. The lyric actually came pretty easy - just kinds wrote itself with a little nudge from me here and there. Thanks for the input. Wiswhing you and yours the very best.

Hello Robert,

Thanks so much for the feedback. The changes were intended to be rather subtle as I was fairly happy with the original version but thought the mix could be better. The main goal was to give the vocal a little more space and definition. I appreciate you taking the time to listen to both versions and give me your thoughts - many thanks.

Wishing you the best,

Alan

Would say that I love the changes you made, and that I prefer your newest version. <3 It all just fits so nicely together and has a nice fluidity to it. Thanks for sharing!

I see I "liked" it over on soundcloud back when you first posted it, but I went back to have another listen to refresh my memory.

Vocal sounds much better this time around! The remix was well worth doing IMHO.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the feedback. I thought the newer vocal sounded better but wanted to get some outside opinions. And thanks for the "like" on the original version - really appreciate that!

best to you.

Good job on this Alan smile While the differences are subtle, the mixing job on the second version trumps the original I would say. Either way, it is definitely an enjoyable tune! I like the arrangements, and the groove of the whole thing. I liked the lyrics a lot too - they really helped it set a mood.

Thanks so much for sharing smile

Thanks a bunch, Deryk!

The remix was intended to be just that - subtle. I was fine with the instrumental tracks but thought the vocal was cluttered and buried in the mix. Glad the small adjustments seem to work for you. Thanks for letting me know.

Best to you and all the fine folks at PG Music.

Thanks Floyd. Glad you enjoyed it. the remix brought the vocals a little more forward and I trimmed some of the lower EQ from it. Appreciate the visit and feedback. Best to you and yours.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
