Hi All, Here's an updated version of a song I wrote many years ago when I lived in Amsterdam for a short time. This is called Amsterdam Rain. Shuffling down a narrow street The fog's so thick I can't see my feet I'm worlds away from where I once belonged I hear Eric Andersen in the night His words pull me along but I do not fight The song repeats a sad refrain I think the last time I saw you It was 2 in the morning And you were walking through the Amsterdam rain Stumbling through the cafe door I take my seat as it begins to pour I'm thinking about New York in the Autumn time Times Square and movie lights Seem so big and burn through the night Beneath my feet I feel the subway train I think the last time I saw you You were waving down a taxi And running through the Amsterdam rain Paper cups blow past my feet The rain has passed and Holland's half asleep It's 2am as I begin to roam Walking briskly through the town Canals lead the way to where I'm bound I feel the ghosts of these old neighborhoods I think the last time I saw you It was 2 in the morning And you vanished in the Amsterdam rain Yeah, the last time I saw you You were there in the doorway And you vanished in the Amsterdam rain All BIAB Tracks: 536 Bass, Acoustic, Pop Sw 120 406 Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Ev 136 407 Guitar, Ac, Fngerpck Ev 120 689 Organ, B3, Background Pop Ev 085 Thanks for listening! What cool song Bob. Really nice backtrack. Organ was very cool. Super vocal. Loved the story in your lyrics. Well done...

Bob, I like the images in your story, and the wistful feeling in your vocal. The song has a 60`s folk sound which fits and the organ was a good choice. Enjoyably poetic music!

What a great story set to music. Your vocals and lyrics were spot on. Very nice harmonies also. Your backing tracks were perfect. This is your best to date IMHO.
I really liked this one.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Hi Bob,
I really enjoyed the straight-forward simplicity of this. A nice trip back on the Folk-Pop bus. Nice, indeed. Wishing you the very best.

Really nice work, Robert I love the mood on this one - it has a haunting quality to it. I really liked how you incorporated the organ, and the subtle harmonies throughout as well. The kind of music that is easy to close your eyes and get lose to. Great job, and thanks for sharing !
Cheers, Deryk

This is a really nice "re-do", Bob.
The combination of guitar and organ is well done. Your vocal is super - and the harmonies, too.
Super write (I recalled the Eric Andersen line immediately).
Nice.

"Paper cups blow past my feet The rain has passed and Holland's half asleep It's 2am as I begin to roam Walking briskly through the town Canals lead the way to where I'm bound I feel the ghosts of these old neighborhoods I think the last time I saw you It was 2 in the morning And you vanished in the Amsterdam rain"
This is reminiscent of the folk era...but only of the very best aspects of it. From our perspective this song is much more visual than most songs from that time. And the organ really makes it stand out. A bit like the lighter songs on Blonde On Blonde.
The imagery is vivid throughout and the verse above is so image rich. And it has great company in the rest of the song.
The production is perfect for the mood especially the vocals that are just in the right spot mix wise. Whatever processing you used on them is noteworthy. Seems like just the right touch for the fine performance.
We're glad you revisited this one!

PS Kevin Welch, a favorite singer/songwriter of ours recorded a song called "Kicking Back In Amsterdam." It's very atypical of his songs as it is a bit of a playful roots rocker but we couldn't help but think of it. No comparisons at all - nothing like yours...just musing.

This song has such a lovely vibe to it, and the vocals are beautiful. They fit so perfectly with the rest of the song! I think this is a really great song. I'm curious what the old one sounded like, though!
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Ember

You have created such a great niche for yourself. I love the quality and uniqueness of your work and each song may be different but will always have that touch that makes it instantly recognizable to being attached to you. You know your way around a ballad as good as anyone in the business.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
