Hi all.
Woolworths or Woolies is one of Australia's larger grocery stores and they have just banned plastics bags which have been a real problem in the environment. This song is written from the point of view of the plastic bag.
All comments welcome. Rob.
[Link no longer valid]

I'm a Woolies plastic shopping bag and now I have no job.
I used to take your butter home and help to carry your grog.

I had one thousand uses till the love you had was lost
but I would like to hang around no matter what the cost.

Bridge

Chorus

Let me take your grocery shopping home from the discount store.
Let me dangle freely from your arm like I did before

Bridge

I'm a Woolies plastic shopping bag and now I have no job.
I used to take your butter home and help to carry your grog.

I would end up in the rubish dump or float up on the reef.
But since I Lost my lively hood my lifes been full of greif my lifes been full of greif.

Nice work on this one smile Coincidentally, where we are located in Canada also just banned plastic bags too, as of July 1st. I found this to be a really interesting concept for a tune, and it is executed really well too!

Great work and thanks for sharing smile

Excellent!! Why "talk" about an issue when you can "sing" about it?!! You have definitely 'handled' this topic well, and you can obviously 'carry' a novelty song like this so well!
Really like the style you chose, and the little solo's in-between the verses. Also, I appreciate your choice of words and rhymes==nothing seems forced, no false rhymes--very nicely done. I'd have to say, this one is 'in the bag'!

Those bags are a scourge on our countryside in our part of the world. Along the roadside, hanging on fences, in trees.

Cool song/production and I hope that bag doesn't find another gig!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Deryk already beat me to it -- the ban went through for plastic bags on July 1st I believe, just in time for Canada Day. I'm happy to see the change to be honest. There is nothing worse then being happy to be out in nature and then looking to your right and seeing so much plastic it's insane. It's one small step, but it'll make an impact.

But, back to the topic at hand -- your song! This actually was a sad song considering that it's written from the perspective of the plastic bag. It's hard to sympathize with the plastic bag when it takes so long to degrade at landfills, but I think it speaks volumes for your song that it actually made me feel a little bad for the plastic bags of the world.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Rob,

This is a very clever write. You've got a flair for 'quirky' in a very good way.

As I listened to this, there were different points in the song when you reminded me of Johnny Ashcroft and his "Little Boy Lost" (that's a big compliment, by the way).

I totally enjoyed listening.

All the best,
Noel

G'day mate...

I gave a listen IBB....I like it.
Original, non-cliche subject matter choice, cool story on the plight of the plastic shopping bag, well performed and a clever write.

Works for me.....well done.

Rob,
Well that`s a whole new perspective on environmental responsibility...you almost had me shedding a tear for the poor rejected bag!
I like personification songs - I think you made this believable and the arrangement works well.

Robert

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
