This is another song from the album 'Waiting in the Wings'. I think this was the first song we wrote where I sent in a rough music idea to Donna with hints of where verse, pre-chorus, bridge, chorus etc and she came up with the lyric to fit my idea. Normally she sends me a lyric and I work out music from that. It's also interesting that someone like me from the UK would never come up with a phrase like 'Let's Don't Say Goodbye' - mine would be more conventional like 'Let's Not say Goodbye'. Anyway here's the lyric:

Let’s Don’t Say Goodbye
(Lyric © Donna Evans and Music © Tony Cliff 2018)

Verse 1
Used to be candles on the table, slow dancing, dinner and wine
Sunny daisies on the front porch, they were the best of times
We used to sing together, strumming my old guitar
Watch the fireflies sparkle, summer nights beneath the stars

Pre-chorus
I’d climb the highest mountain, I’d swim the deepest sea
Turn the clock of old man time, to bring you right back to me

Chorus
Let’s don’t say goodbye, we never lose ‘till we don’t try
One more time, we’ll get it right, let’s don’t say goodbye

Verse 2
Dark clouds are hanging round, the house is cold and bleak
A mist inside, it fogs my eyes, every time I try to sleep
Sometimes I think I hear you, when I’m happy lost in a dream
You and me dancing in the rain, ‘til morning wipes the scene

Pre-chorus

Chorus

Bridge
Wanna’ get back to the days
When love lit up our night
Together time was so fine
And the world was just right

Verse 3
Let’s pick up the pieces, as they say in a country song
Start a fire to warm our hearts, and burn away these wrongs
They say practice makes perfect, and love comes like spring flowers
Tender but strong against the cold, just waiting down the hours

Pre-chorus

Chorus

Style is _BLUEST.STY (Bluest Acoustic Resonator Blues)

RealTracks in style: ~372:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Hank Sw 120
RealTracks in style: 2676:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm BluesShuffleBrent Sw 130
RealTracks in style: 609:Guitar, Resonator, Background Roundup Sw 120
RealDrums in style: BluesShuffle^3-a:Brushes, Swirl , b:Brushes, HiHat

I wanted a resonator in the song so I used the RealTrack and faded in where the good sections were and fading out any clashes. For the intro and links I added my own Resonator using the excellent vst 'The Resonator'. Then I added my own acoustic guitar part, a bass line using Spectrasonics Trilian and some percussion using 'Shimmer, Shake, Strike'.

A cool song - your vocals are really good.
Nice melody & lyrics.
To my ears the reso doesn't really fit the vibe & vocal - a matter of taste- but I reckon some clean strat lines would've sounded more in keeping.
Ah, but that's me so ignore that.
COOL.

Man I love the laid back feel of this tune! I reminds me so much of that era of great folk/rock/pop music of Croce, Mclean etc. Nice work! Thanks, Torrey

I am with Torrey. What a great feel to this song. Excellent vocals. I really like the resonator in this tune but I really loved the sound of the guitars. This one is well played..

What a tune - I really liked this! I thought the resonator fit well personally. Your vocals were really a standout too. The tune is really easy to digest - not overly complicated, but honestly it works in its favour. I got that hook in my head right away, and the groove got my foot tapping in seconds.

Nice work on this one - thanks for sharing smile

Another pleasant listen. A nice vocal, a good mix, a smooth, easy groove... The bridge is especially nice.

Strong progression, especially in the choruses (pre-choruses?). Smooth delivery. I enjoyed the listen.

funkycornwall,

Very cool tune, really some smooth, easy listening. Really fine lyrics as well. Everything meshes . . so pretty darn good, in my book. Enjoyed the listen.

All the best,

Deej

What a terrific song! Loved my listen. I could hear Jim Croce singing this - we lost a terrific talent when he died. But you did a super job recreating that pop-rock-folk sound. Really, really nice!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
