Hello, forum friends

This song was written in samba rhythm for the ballroom dancing CD about 5 years ago.
This time, I will post the original recording of that time without doing remix.
I wrote it in Brazilian samba style.
It is the samba version of the tango song that I posted about 2 and half years ago. (https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=49945&Number=343729#Post343729 )
So, it has the same melody as the tango song.

Any comments encouraged.
Always welcome.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Summary of lyrics:

Samba, samba!
What a passionate dance
Latin bloods will cause an uproar gathered in the square

Sunburned skins, sweet words, enchanting rhythm
Girls, let guys be mad and dance until morning

Viva! we have a summer carnival tonight
Let’s go barefoot and continue dancing now

Intent gaze, splashing sweat
Let’s leave everything behind
Black eyes, silvering moonlight
The carnival is reaching the culmination

Samba, samba!
If our eyes meet, we will instantly fall in love
And something wonderful will begin

Girls, decorate your long hairs with red flowers
Become beasts and flutter the spiral staircase

Viva! we have a summer carnival tonight
Let’s go barefoot and continue dancing now

Samba, samba!
Time will stop
Samba, samba!
The carnival is never ending

Shigeki,

Loved the samba! End-to-end, this was so well-done!
So professionally produced...your application of brass and strings is perfectly placed--not too heavy, and adding the right amount of texture.

You are so lucky to have your vocalist, she sounds great!
The brazilian-style percussion is very nice..Cuica is used very well..it can sound very repetitive if not handled correctly.

I went back and listened to the tango version...interesting how adaptable is your melody, and the lyric also!

Thanks for sharing your very craftsman-like work!

Wow - what a tune! Love the samba vibes on this one. The groove is excellent. I can see this filling a dancefloor in minutes flat. It has a lot of energy, and I thought the vocals were perfect as well. Every note hits hard, and the mixing job is flawless. Wouldn't bat an eyelash hearing this on on the radio.

Great work - thanks for sharing!

I always really look forward to hearing your songs. They are always so unexpected, and you do such creative things with them. I also just love the Japanese language as a whole and think it's perfectly suited for singing.

This song was no exception and I really enjoyed this version ( and was thankful that you shared the original in this post as well so I could compare!). This was definitely a fun re-imagining of the song. I honestly can't say which one I prefer. I also liked that you used male vocals on the older version and a female vocalist on the newer one.

Thanks for sharing!

Shigecki Adachi...

This "Midsummer Carnival" is a rhythmically colorful explosion of musical excitement that is barely contained by the coolly arranged strings and horns that are so expertly wrapped around it. The sound was darkly passionate, even as Ms. Yoshikawa ignited the lyrics with her exuberant vocal performance.

Did I mention lyrics? Well, yes, I did, didn't I? Those are some seriously hot, sensuous, and seductive words-in-service-to-music you got there, Mr. Adachi!!! Now, let's take a closer look at them, shall we?:

"Samba, samba! What a passionate dance..." "Girls, let guys be mad and dance until morning..." "Intent gaze, splashing sweat..." "Girls, decorate your long hairs with red flowers. Become beasts and flutter the spiral staircase..."

Whooo-eee! Girls becoming "beasts"?!? Oh, my! Had to wring-out my clothing after reading those lines! You must be planning on taking a vacation in a very naughty, very out-of-the-way place, Shigeki cool !!! It's a good thing the song wasn't accompanied by a video, because it probably would have been rated "H", for hot!

I really dig the way you faded out on the percussion. Nice. It made the song feel as though the samba party would never end.

Keep up the heat, Shigeki Adachi! You'll keep us warm during the long, cold American winter.

Congrats to you and Natsuki!

You arranged and captured a wonderful groove with the Samba feel.

Everything sounds superb on our monitors. You did an outstanding job with all those midi files!

Rich, textured and assuredly danceable!

J&B

PS It really is fascinating how well the melody works with both versions.

Tom,

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
I am really glad you all like this tune and Natsuki's vocal.
Most percussions are played with Latigo.
Latigo is the very excellent vst instrument, and it is still my favorite.
8 Latin percussions are prepared and samba phrases, etc. are programmed in advance.
But now Latigo is unfortunately not available.
Also, since it cannot be used with the current Intel Mac, only this part is rendered to WAV in Windows.
And many thanks for listening to Tango version, too.
I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

Best regards.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
