Hello PG Music lovers

Some of you may know that I have been busy with FAWM 2019. Here is an album of 13 of the songs written and recorded all using Band-in-a-Box during Feb this year. (The 14th was an acoustic recording made on my phone so I didn't include that one on the album).

I thought it would be better to wait till FAWM was over and to post all the songs in one thread so that the user forum doesn't get flooded with these songs.

The lyrics and liner notes are all on my website and if anybody is interested in what realtracks were actually used for what song please just let me know. To save time, I pretty much used the styles as supplied by BIAB.

I THINK I BETTER GO
Style is _CTRYPS1.STY (Pedal Steel Country Pop)

I AM WOMAN
Style is _RUSTING.STY (Rusting Train Slow Americana)

LET ME BE ME
Style is _LOWROAD.STY (Low Road Country Folk Swing Solo)

IT DONT BELONG TO ME
Style is _FSTOMP.STY (Celtic Footstompin')

FROM THERE TO HERE
Style is _LITEPOP.STY (Lite Pop w/ Songwriter Guitar)

ELAINE
Style is _WSWNGM2.STY (Medium Western Swing Band)

THE WEATHERS REALLY GOOD HERE
Style is _SW130RG.STY (Mid Tempo Country-Folk)

THATS WHEN AN ANGEL FIRST GETS HER WINGS
Style is _FLKTAE8.STY (Even-Eighths Folk w/ Tambourine)

PLAY SONGS WITH YOU AGAIN
Style is _HIRIDGE.STY (High Ridge Ukulele Country Folk)

HALCYON DAYS
Style is _PFPBTFW.STY (Fast Folk Waltz w/ 2 Fingerpicke)

I SEE YOU
Style is _ACPOP16.STY (16ths Accordion Folk-Pop)

A BEAUTIFUL LIFE
Style is _LITEPOP.STY (Lite Pop w/ Songwriter Guitar)

FAKE IT
Style is _HOTRAMP.STY (Hot Rod Amplitube Rockabilly)

I would love any feedback on any of the songs (even if you only manage to listen to part of one song). I am going to be performing at our National Arts Festival in July, just me and my guitar and am planning to produce a stripped down album of songs to sell as a souvenir at my shows. I would love any feedback you can give on which songs you think would work for this initiative.

PS the album is available for free download.

This is a lot to take in, so I'll keep coming back until I've heard them all...
Even those I've heard at FAWM...

Joanne

Just picked at random, It Don't Belong To Me - a really enjoyable folky song
with a very comfortable melody - easily accessible, with an excellent vocal.

Very enjoyable.

Joanne,
Great job on these! It is truly amazing that you wrote them in February!
Song sound as they are "ready to go", composed and mixed very well. Vocals are crisp and full of life in all.

If I had to choose best two, I would take:

3 "Let me be me"

I found it interesting that most cultures have similar songs... Well not similar in composition/performing but connotation, and it is hard to create a good sounding, interesting tunes in this genre. It kept me engaged all the way, so I feel that mission is accomplished smile

13 Fake It

This one talks to me. Very catchy. Nice lyrics, progression and style. I like choice of accompaniment instruments too.

Thank you for sharing!

Misha.

Joanne, please allow me some days to comment... very busy at work in the moment and I don't want to rush through your songs.

Looking forward to listening to all of them during the next week.

I looked it up but I'm not sure about a "RTGS"...
I enjoyed your usual good work on this one!
BTW... Why do you think there are not a lot more lady songwriters on the PG forum...
There are a lot of them participating in FAWM...
Perhaps they haven't discovered how helpful Biab is to songwriters... laugh

You know me... I give a song 20 seconds or so... maybe 30 if it has a long intro. I admire anyone who completes the FAWM challenge. Good work on those, I know you were busy as the proverbial one armed wallpaper hanger in a butt kicking contest.

So.... I found myself listening to several beyond the basic 30 seconds " yep, I got this" and the one that really stuck out to be was I See You. The greeting the Avatars used in the movie of the same name.

I like the stuff you came up with ... oh and that last song.... Fake It, while you didn't technically write it, you did a great interpretation of the song with your melody and groove.

Thumbs up!

I'm really excited to give these all a listen. I always enjoy your stuff. I'll have to come back once I've had a chance to listen to them all and letcha know what I think. I did get a chance to listen to I Think I Better Go, and I have to say that your vocals were very smooth and lovely, and I felt the country twang really complimented you.

Thanks for compiling this list for us!

You are indeed a prodigious writer of quality songs...
I like the neat sounding chordal hook you used when you go into the chorus...
Overall, another simple but great sounding composition.

Oh me oh my...
Be prepared to be knocked down by two feathers from that mythical halcyon bird...
Not only did CDGD trip you up but also CGCG on the chorus & the bridge...
Such a cheater tch, tch grin ...
I guess that's why they called it the "Hank Williams in Hell challenge".
However, its another good song.

Jim. Thank you so very much for taking the time to listen and comment on all the songs! You are a absolute star.

Bwt..RTGS = Real Time Gross Settlement... it is the new "Zimbabwe currency". Zimbabwe doesn't have their own official currency. They adopted the US dollar quite a few years ago. The problem is that there is no physical cash there so people pay for goods and services using their debit cards. Goods are 4* the price if you pay with your card than if you are lucky enough to have some physical cash and can pay with US dollar notes.

So the Zimbabweans call this paying with your card "RTGS". The worry is that hyper inflation takes over with this unofficial currency (like it did a few years ago when they abandoned the Zim Dollar and any Zim Dollar balance basically went to zero....).

It is so complicated it is going to take a genius to sort it out. I think the IMF have been trying to help but nothing seems to be changing very rapidly.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
