This is from FAWM 4 years ago.

A quick song idea that never had any work done on it. BIAB but any more info lost.

Yesterday the dragon yawned and looks like 13 people lost their lives.

May they rest in peace.

https://soundcloud.com/tuigorge/dragons-breath

Years ago in my yacht SKY friends and I occasionally
anchored for a day or two at White Island exploring
the volcano and surroundings. Here are some impressions.

Dragon' s Breath

Sailing in the 'Sky' one sultry summer
Surfing hissing sliding down the waves
Looking for the Dragon in deep water
Smoking steaming snorting in his cave
Hoping he won't drag us into graves

Dragon sleeping under the vol-cano
Spitting molten rocks and fuming fire
Crept up to his mouth see his soul glow
Raw and roaring throat gaping wide
Gates of hell blast boulders to the tide

Waiting wary for some huge re-action
When he explodes in fury from his lair
The dragon dreams and twitches in his slumber
Don't wake him or the cataclysm's here

Marvel at his barren lonesome home
Steaming acid lakes and choking gas
Primitive and primal so much to leave a-lone
Dragon's breath burnt sulphur from the past
Pull the pick and run for port real fast

Waiting wary for some huge re-action
When he explodes in fury from his lair
The dragon dreams and twitches in his slumber
Don't wake him or the cataclysm's here

Richmac,
seems you were prescient, though I'm sure many have predicted an eventual eruption along some aspect of that tectonic line.
A good lyric and the music seems good too - a little muted - particularly the solo.

Cheers

love the island groove....

Rule #1... don't hike into the caldera of an active volcano

Great to see back & posting again...
I enjoyed hearing your new 4 year old song smile...
When I heard about the eruption...
I wondered if you & your family were in harm's way...
Its good to know all are safe!

Hi Ray. Just a little burp really. Happens often out there. Too bad people were at the crater at the time.
Just posted because it was topical. Cheers.

Yes so many old abandoned songs. Must try writing a new one.

Rich,
A good groove for the imaginary tale, unfortunately now a reality.
My son & wife are moving to Tauranga in the New Year- hope they will stay well clear
of that beast.

Hi Robert,

Small world, small world.

The main feature of the area at harbour entrance
is Mt Maunganui/Mauao. Extinct volcano.
No danger there though except the odd falling rocks.
Best wishes.

Good to see you and your rich smile imagery back on the forum.

We followed that sad story.

The upbeat island groove offers a very effective contrast with the lyric indeed.

We enjoyed this and it would make a heckuva video!

Nicely written story combining fantasy and real world with strong images - sad to hear what happend on that island.

Reggae rhythm works well here and that extra drum higlights the dragon's power. I like your emotional vocals and the catchy chorus, nice breaks.

Hi J&B
Best wishes to you both. I'm glad you enjoyed this and agree a video could be fantastic. Beyond me I'm afraid. Cheers.

Richard,

Great to see you back posting.

I've always enjoyed both your writing and your productions.

A very strong lyric (as usual).

A good understated production with a strong bass and minimal backing instruments - been your hallmark for a long time - pretty much predicting "modern music" sounds (and a volcano to boot).

Well done.

Hi Richard,

Welcome back! It's great to see you.

Given the terrible events that have happened in the last week or so on White Island, these lyrics have an ominous sense of déjà vu about them.

You've captured terror, unpredictability and danger incredibly well in your writing.

Best regards,
Noel

Hi Floyd.
Thank you for your generous complimentary and helpful comments over the years.
Also your tolerance of my often rash comments.
Much appreciated. Cheers.

Hi Scott. Thanks for checking it out. I only hope they don't close the island off entirely. Even though it is a bit like a preview of hell. Best wishes.

Hi Noel. Don't know that I ever thanked you for starting me off writing lyrics quite a while ago. You organized a little writing exercise class.

Thank you.

Hi, Rich !

T´was a most interesting
tune with very telling
lyrics you´ve produced !

Very nice indeed although
I understand that living
close to volcanos must
be kinda hazardous !

Cheers

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
