I will admit I'm old, (68), and I guess I'm old school when it comes to Country music. I turned on the local country station the other day, and thought I had tuned in the Rock station, and I found this on BIAB and wrote this song. It's different from my normal gospel genre, but I love the old type Country Music.

Good Old Country Music

What has happened to, good ole country music,
to the songs that I love to hear.
This progressive stuff they’re playing now, ain’t country music,
It almost brings a grown man to tears.
Whatever happened to the sounds of Hank, Merle, and Willie,
the songs that had a sweet melody,
What has happened to, good ole country music,
it seems it’s been an eternity.

Listen to the sound, of sweet harmony,
for ages long that’s how it’s supposed to be.
What has happened to, good ole country music
it seems it’s been an eternity.

Listen to that steel guitar, it can almost make it cry,
that fiddle music has gone bye and bye.
What has happened to, good ole country music,
it seems it’s been an eternity.

Style: Medium Western Swing
1673; Pedal Steel, Soloist, WesternswingPaul
1871; fiddle, soloist, westernswing Andy
1710; guitar, electric, soloist, western swing Brent

Love me some Texas swing. Love this.

I got into Ray Benson and Asleep at the wheel..... and they are straight up the center on this.

Nice work on this. Your voice fits the style nicely

Hi Ronnie ...

I agree with all that Herb said. When I lived in Texas, had a chance to meet Ray Benson. And as Herb said, he's spot on with Western Swing. Ray's one tall guy - about 6'8". I'm 5'10" and I had a crick in my neck after that conversation!

I grew up playing this kind of music. This was a real treat! I played a lot of Hank Thompson, Billy Walker and the like back then. Abd you're not that old, my friend. I'll be 74 next month. But, I'm fortunate that I have no arthritis, other chronic pain or significant health issues at this time. I beat cancer about 6 years ago and a mils stroke right after that. But I recovered well and doing just fine. My dog and I go for a one mile walk twice a day. I gotta thank good genes and the good Lord for my well being.

I truly enjoyed this a lot. Very, very nicely done!!! Wishing you the very best. Take care ...

Alan

hey Ronnie,

this is AWESOME! You nailed the genre! Your choice of style is a perfect match for your voice and the lyrics you've crafted.

"Awwww PLAY it now..." (Perfect!)

I like the old country approach to allowing several soloists to play back to back, and you captured that here. You hear it also in Bluegrass, but not much in other genres.

Yeah man, if your statement is to express a desire for a return to good ol' country music, you have sure done your part to bring it back via this song! Great submission to the showcase!

I always enjoy listening to your music, and this was certainly no exception.

Classic country style, solid melody, good write, nice vocals.

This one really put a smile on my face! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Ronnie, this is so good in so many ways, super great country swing groove, great backing tracks, excellent mix and vocal with outstanding lyrics!

You sure don't hear good country music like this on country radio stations anymore.

This is country swing at its finest.

Nice...love western swing. We used to play a bit of it in our bluegrass band.

That was a great era and you did a good job with this reminder.

And Bud is seven years older than you young man smile

OLD?
You must mean finely aged!

Nicely done!
Band sounds country authentic.
Perfect vocal presentation that matches the vibe.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
