Carry My Soul
By David Snyder

V1

Carry my soul
Over the mountains
Carry my soul down to the sea
Carry my soul away from this wasteland
Carry my soul where my soul needs to be

CH

And carry
Carry my spirit
Carry my love and please set me free
And carry
Carry me homeward
Carry my soul where my soul needs to be

V2

Carry my heart away from this hatred
Carry my heart away from these flames
Let me set sail out on the water
To the shores of the Goddess
Please tell me her name

CH

And carry, carry
Carry my spirit
Carry my love and please set me free
And carry, carry
Carry me homeward
Carry my soul where my soul needs to be

V

Carry my soul
Over the meadows
I need to soar out over the sea
Carry my soul away from this heartbreak
Carry my soul where my soul needs to be

CH

And carry my heart
Carry my spirit
Carry my love and please set me free
And carry, carry
Carry me homeward
Carry my soul where my soul needs to be

[repeat]

David,

Love this... To me it has a vibe similar to some of Leonard Cohen's early material.

This is an excellent "gear switch".

David,

A song carried on the wings of angels.
The synth-y tracks carry it nicely.
The vocal carries the weight of the lyric.
And you carry the tune well.
The message carries the day.
Good that you did not get carried away with backing tracks - just right.
Nice job of carrying out the gear change.

Carry on.

A story full of hope and spirit. Very nice Celtic groove with enjoyable Irish mood. It is very clear that her name is Carrie smile

Nicely done. You still have that Dylan/Springsteen vibe going on in your musical style. Not a thing wrong with that.

Well done David. I got the Bruce Springsteen vibe on this tune as well. Cool lyric and vocal.

Like others, my first thought was that the vocal was channeling Springsteen.

Nice "big" song - you do anthems well.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi David,

I don't know if your composition is close to the style of Léonard Cohen (cf: rsdean) but it's pleasant with "optimistic" lyrics.

Hi David
I agree there's a bit of a Springsteen vibe to this one, but mainly it's just Snyderesque. Nice gear change.

Leon

This song has a really lovely vibe to it overall, and you can definitely tell you had fun making it. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us! I've always had a soft spot for folkier sounding songs.

Very nice change. I agree with all the references to Springsteen.

Very well done, well written. I love the "freedom" of your writing. You are unafraid to conquer any subject or genre. This is just another fine example.

What I love about your songs is that you do your own thing and don't seem to care much about anything else, musically speaking - which is, to me, absolutely fantastic. This is top notch, once more. So uplifting. And the lyrics ... yes.

Oh, and your vocal technique: WOW. :-)

Congratulations - sincerest congratulations.

Yeah, as mentioned ... Nebraska Springsteen in vibe.

The lyric is the front runner here with the excellent sentiment.

Well done Mr. Snyder!
