"Ashes and Sackcloth"

Verse 1
They took the Lord's prayers
Out of the schools
They banned the 10 commandments
From the buildings too
Blasphemed Word of God
Threw the truth away
Thinking they won't
Have to answer for it all
One of these days

Verse 2
Rachael mourns her for children
Because they are no more
As a new abortion clinic
Just opened its doors
They call it a choice
But that's a devil's lie
The only choice given that innocent child
Was a choice to die

Chorus
Behold the wrath of God, it's coming soon
A righteous judgement for all that's due
Repent while there's still time
While there's still a way
There will weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth
Don your ashes and sack cloth out on the streets
Cry out in repentance before the judgement day
While there's time
While there's still a way

Verse 2
They stone all the prophets
And put the holy men in jail
Everything they trust in
Rusts, rots or fails
Gave a whole new name to
Old abominated things
So it doesn't sound so evil
So it has a nice little ring

Chorus
Behold the wrath of God, it's coming soon
A righteous judgement for all that's due
Repent while there's time
While there's still a way
There will weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth
Don your ashes and sack cloth out on the streets
Cry out in repentance before the judgement day
While there's time
While there's still a way

Chorus (Spoken)
Behold the wrath of God, it's coming soon
A righteous judgement for all that's due
Repent while there's time
While there's still a way
Chorus (Sang)
There will weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth
Don your ashes and sack cloth out on the streets
Cry out in repentance before the judgement day
While there's time
While there's still a way

Ditto

Great song, super vocal, great mix, and lyrics that everyone should listen and get.

Verse #1 is so true and
"Gave a whole new name to
Old abominated things
So it doesn't sound so evil
So it has a nice little ring"
hit the nail right on the head.

Outstanding work.

Two thumbs up

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Bawb,
the band is quite okay... it's lame when behind your aggressive & impassioned vocal though.

The narrative, well there are some internal inconsistencies like "The only choice given that innocent child
Was a choice to die" - after all, from your position it would be that the child had no choice, not even to die. Then there's the focus on God - an entity believed in by many religions - mainly monotheistic ones too. Much of the belief that has been trumpeted of late has been by those, mostly Christian religions, who believe in at least two deities.

This is the sort of lyric that takes no prisoners and offers nothing to those who might disagree or wish to look for a little grey amongst the black n white, old testament or Revelations histrionics of hair shirts and self flagellation.

The wrath,(this always confuses me because I was taught that Jesus died so that there would be no wrath), Armageddon, the Rapture may be coming for believers but I suspect the planet will get the first and last laugh as all living things pay for the damage wrought by the dominant cultures & civilizations.

As I wrote: aggressive, impassioned AND in song rather than with a weapon, abuse or an insurrection so kudos to you for all of that.

Cheers

Maybe I can explain it for you:
Yeshua (Jesus), made the ultimate Levitical blood sacrifice to atone for our sins. In order to be covered by His blood, one has to believe in Him and obey the laws of God (not just believe, for even the demons believe). The wrath WILL be upon those who don't believe in Yeshua and obey Yehovah (God's) commandments. The planet and the whole universe were created by God and He will do what He pleases with them. There are a huge number of Eschatological theories, but the one truth is in the Bible. If you are interested, you can PM me and I can give you some resources to help. Thanks for commenting by the way. I appreciate you taking the time to listen!

For what fellowship does evil have with good? I hold strong beliefs that there is either light or darkness. The abortion issue is especially important to me. This is purely of Satan. He is doing this to get back at God. After all, if you want to hurt someone who is more powerful than you, the easiest thing for a coward to do is to go after their children!

rayc wrote: "Much of the belief that has been trumpeted of late has been by those, mostly Christian religions, who believe in at least two deities."

Peter even stated in Acts, "But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction."
There is a great apostasy in the assembly today and many blasphemous lies are being taught as doctrine. I would really use caution watching or listening to any preacher on television. For most of them are wolves in sheep's clothing spewing the doctrine of demons. I guess, I'll come down off my pulpit for now...

Wow, Bawb, strong lyrics and an impassioned vocal really make this song a wonderful testament. I go with Ray on the fact that the band doesn't seem to feel it like you do. What a wonderful message and an impactful delivery.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks Bawb, I'll pass on the resources.
Quoting "scripture" didn't answer my questions but it did give me the overarching explanation that yours is a black & white world with which there is no true communication.
Pump up the band, man remix and arrange so that it matches your level of conviction.

Bawb,

Always a big fan of your vocals. And this is a really good write. Really like the spoken chorus, with that fuzzy vocal—nice production touch. From a production standpoint, overall it sounds a bit muted to me—which is to say, I think the tune can be a bit more in the listener’s face. They mix sounds great overall—just wondering if the volume overall should come up a bit. See what others think. Regardless, terrific work on this.

Best regards to you,

Deej

Man, you got some pipes! Wish I could sing like that. Lyrics were OTT, but good job overall.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
