2 a.m. I wake up with a song idea. Come what may, I can't fall back asleep.

4 a.m., the song is done. 4h30 a.m., or so, I share it with you, here.

Soon as I get some sleep, I'll catch up with everyone's songs ... I've been away once more, bereft of inspiration and busy as heck. But ... hopefully this is a good enough song to come back on. Anyway, here it is - hope you enjoy!

https://soundcloud.com/jamesdelsono/how-do-you-fall-out-of-love

HOW DO YOU FALL OUT OF LOVE?

How do you fall out of love?
It's easy - they say - if you try;
How do you fall out of love? Tell me now, I pray,
When you feel you'll love her until your dying day?

How do you slow your heart beating
When the thought of her comes to mind
How do you even stop thinking of her
When her very dream keeps you awake at night?

When the thought of her lingers
Each time you go to pray
When the touch of her fingers
Is with you every day?

How do you fall back in love
When she's gone away from your life?
How do you even get over someone
Who was so nearly, so nearly your wife?

Hi James,

I like the cool feel and groove of your song.

Vocals - they don't sit down in the track - they sound like they are pasted on top of the song. I suggest you roll off the bass frequencies on the vocals only at around 125Hz with a Q of 90 and see how they sound in the mix.

Best Regards
Nigel

Ah, the impossible task. No wonder you couldn't sleep, James. Very cool opening with Brent on the wah-wah. Excellent lyrics, and I like how you end with How do you fall BACK in love. Now, how do you fall back to sleep?

Enjoy whatever happens!

Beautifully romantic and reflective lyrics. Subconscious can create excellent ideas, I'm glad you didn't continue sleeping, because you would have probably forgotten this. I like the subtle backing band, the organ and the blues guitar give the song nice early morning mood.

Sir - you are simply the greatest :-))) and, to answer your question, I'm afraid - whatever it many mean - that I'm still awake ... :-)

God bless you - thanks again, nothing better than making a reasonably-often-grumpy man like myself smile :-)))

Yep - would have probably forgotten it, had I kept sleeping. Hope it's a good idea that I didn't :-) Thank you!!!

So in two hours you write and record a song?

It takes me (Bud) about 50 cups of coffee, a few pints of beer and a couple
of weeks of dismissing it and coming back, repeated ad infinitum to write a
lyric. After that things go very quickly with Janice at the helm smile

Great band and mix and a good take on love lost ... indeed!

Yes, but you're a pro (and write at that level) - I just mess around :-)

Thanks so much - so glad you liked it, it means so much when someone like you gives a little experiment of mine, such as this one, the thumbs-up.

You are too kind! We are a couple of old bluegrassers still trying to find our way in the Americana music world and spending much more time biking and hiking than music making. But having fun.

Thank you!!! Yep, this band slays it, I think :-) I was really lucky to run across this combination of instruments ... Brent alone on the wah-wah did most of the work!!!

The lyrics were all mine, though, haha ... thank you so much for listening AND for your wonderful comments!

WOW James your voice is just perfect for those backing tracks!

WOW for those lyrics also.

Loved it!

PS - I wish I could write a song as good as this one in such a short period of time!

PPS - I'm glad that you didn't go back to sleep wink

PPPS - I'm glad that you didn't fall out of bed grin

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
