Better All The Time

Over the past two months I've had 2 surgeries and a harrowing trip to the ER (not surgery related). I'm totally exhausted. I've composed nothing new in quite a while. This is one I started back in November of last year. I did a little remixing and mastered it earlier this week. Just now got around to uploading it. I also replaced the Sax with a Guitar. Thanks in advance for any listens and comments.

What I particularly like about this song is the percussion. I'd never before used that Real Drum track, but I sure do like it! And when it mixes with the loop in the chorus, it really pleases my ears. As usual, I mixed the percussion tracks a wee bit louder than many folks do. Any thoughts about that - or anything else?

PS: I'm starting to feel a little better - thus the name of the previously unnamed composition.

Yep, the rhythm section is ACE.
The combo of loop & RD works well.
It's an smooth, gentle UP groove.
This was lovely.
Hope you on the Up & Up.

Al, I'm hopefully presuming that the title matches yours and Di's feelings.

A really nice mix, and replacing the sax with the guitar has (in my mind) been a really positive direction. I think that guitar fits this style so much better (think Earl Klugh).

This is clean and neat, and masterfully balanced. Fantastic choice of instruments. You must be very pleased with your results.

I think of you, Al, and when I saw a song listed by you with this title I smiled in hope. Glad you getting better! I love listening to music like this. So smooth and so much fun to play. As always you did an outstanding on on he mix. Everything sings so well in its place. That smooth guitar is perfect. In my opinion, a sax would have been too harsh, although BiaB does have some Phil Woods tracks. I too prefer drums up close.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hello Trevor ...

As always, you are much too kind with your comments. I truly appreciate such positive words from an accomplished musician and composer such as yourself.. The hardest part of instrument choice was finding the best guitar RT. I sampled 10 or 12 possibilities before settling on this one. Again, many thanks.

Alan

Hey Marty ...

well, seeing you comment put a smile on my face! I'm getting better - slowly but progressively. And I agree, this style of music, and similar styles, are such easy-listening experiences. I just mentally glide along and enjoy the ride. Our feelings are similar on the sax vs guitar. And yeah, Phil Woods is pretty smooth! I've used his tracks on several occasions. Never disappointed.

Again, thank you so much. Best ...

Alan

Many thanks, Floyd. I'm not so sure about "Master", but I do enjoy working with these instrumentals. You know my antiquated process, so it does take a little while, but I don't mind. I truly appreciate all you said. Best to you & yours.

Hi Scott ...

Many thanks for the kind words! But that wasn't me on guitar - it was a Brent Mason RT from BIAB. Appreciate the comments ...

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
