This is my fourth song in the FAWM Challenge,

Blood Soaked Nails

MY FAWM 2014

Here is a little trick you can try at home and see how it works for you. Mix your song then
1. Place your mastering plugin into the output of your daw and get the volume level you want
2, Make a group channel and then send every instrument to this group.
3. On insert 1 of group channel place an eq with as many bands as you feel need correcting/ correct any frequency problems.
4. on insert 2 of group channel place another eq, on this one do a High Pass filter at 20Hertz and a low pass filter at 20000K
5. on insert 3 of the group channel place a compressor,
1. Set the attack at 150
2. the release at 1500
3. set ratio at 1 up to 1.5 (TASTE)
4. bring the threshold down until you have a 1 db reduction only.
5. Finally use the make up gain on the compressor, to raise the output (Make sure you do not clip)to be safe you can allow a -1db to -.5 db.

What this does is sofly holds the mix level, bringing the lower portions up and the higher levels stay more consistent; so it goes into the Mastering Plugin as hot as it can and more consistent. Which means you do not have to smash it as much with the mastering plugin, it makes for a cleaner sound. Hope this helps!
