+++ Soundbytes +++ is an online magazine. While the focus is more modern music orientated there is plenty of stuff that forum members will find interesting. Presenting the March issue of SoundBytes Magazine. So what’s in store this time? As always, we’ve got reviews of some virtual instruments – six for this issue. We start with FabFilter’s quite fabulous Twin 3, over a decade in the making. Next is something probably unique: Audialab’s Emergent Drums which generates its sample sets through intelligent modeling. Arturia’s Pigments with its recent upgrade to version 4 gets an update review. Cherry Audio’s Mercury 6 is an impressive recreation of a Roland classic. Finally, we have Beat Sequencer from Modalics that’s both a virtual instrument and a sequencer. In the sounds category is Spitfire Audio’s Soft String Textures. Also in their own categories are three more items. First we have a rather unique compositional tool, Scaler 2 to assist with harmony and more. Then there’s another great piece of iRig gear from IK Multimedia, the iRig Stream mic. Finally, for Reaper Users, Vince offers some workflow tips. Five FX entries round things out. We have the latest plug-in from Korneff Audio, the Echoleffe Tape Delay. Then there’s Tone Projects’ Bassline Pro, sort of a channel-strip for bass. Next there’s Audifed’s GK Amplification 3 Pro for some guitar growl and snarl. And we have IK Multimedia’s The Farm Stone Room Studio Reverb, recreating a significant piece of history. Finally, there’s PSP Audioware’s PSP285, a recreation of a classic delay. Lastly there are the usual columns. Ginno is back with another installment of Sound Investments. Plus he’s got another Pedalrama entry. Vince has a new Anatomy of a Patch for you budding sound designers. Finally, our Producer’s Toolbox column brings brief coverage of five FX plug-ins worthy of your attention.

Are you aware of a magazine that dives into more traditional hardware musical instruments such as electronic keyboards and hardware synths?

Are you aware of a magazine that dives into more traditional hardware musical instruments such as electronic keyboards and hardware synths?
A few of these are regularly included in reviews in the British publication, Sound on Sound. But I wouldn't think that was the best place to find these; I don't play those instruments so others will know more.

Thanks Matt and Mario. This is what I found on the web. "Keyboard Magazine will cease to exist as a publication, after having been continuously published since 1975. And this isn’t just another “print is dead” footnote. Keyboard was the publication that defined commercial writing about electronic musical instruments. Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
