I don't have a mac but people I know use Apogee, Focusrite or Presonus. The specific model depends on how many inputs/outputs you want.

Any of the major brands (as Sundance mentioned) will work fine with your Mac.
I have a Macbook Pro and I use an old Avid MBox Pro 2 channel interface.
That thing is about 10 years old now and chugs along just dandy.

I actually use the firewire interface with is pretty easy to do on a Mac.
Some audio guys still argue that USB is not fast enough or takes more system resources and blah blah blah, I'd ignore that entire discussion. USB will work fine.

In most cases (unless you are live miking drums and/or a full band) a 2 input rig will be adequate for a long time
You'd be hard pressed to beat something like the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 2 channel rig.
Focusrite actually has a refurb on sale for $95 on their website.

The only caveat with the 2i2 is the lack of the software mixer for the unit; you have to facilitate it either via the physical unit or in the DAW. Most other interfaces supply a software mixer to allow routing/panning/volume control where the 2i2 does not.
Learned that the hard way .. otherwise it has great sound and quality build.

Thanks so much to both of you.

Here's a little more information. I use only Norton Music fake book discs along with the appropriate fake book. This works perfectly for me. I have a Mason Hamlin piano at home that I mostly play, and a Yamaha Keyboard should I want to move around. I also have a 350 Roland amp with a 4 channels. I use this with my MacBook Air.

At most I play with a drummer, guitar guy and sometimes a upright bass. Occasionally there is a singer. However, I mostly play solo. Never made a $ playing music but have a great time. And as I said before I just want to sound good in total.

So.....I'm, at your suggestion going to get a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Mr. Norton says he always uses a BBE Sonic Maximizer. I'm looking at getting the BBE282IX. Oh, yes, I'm considering the Bose 1L. I do have a small mixer also.

Could you all comment on my set up? I'm totally excited about receiving your comments.

Do you have another recommendation for a physical unit or a substitute for the 2i2? I admit I've not used DAW before and will now have to educate myself on this.

Yes, as mentioned above, get the next model up. The next step up for me is going to be the 18i20. My Delta cards are getting long in the tooth. Surprised I kept them alive this long. I like the Focusrite stuff, just need more inputs here. smile

I've never owned one personally, but heard outstanding things about the Apogee myself. I recorded with someone who was using one and don't have any complaints. smile

I received my 2i2 Focusrite yesterday and will be working on set up today. Thank you again! In the meantime I’ve downloaded Multitracker, which I’ve seen you comment on. I have an iPad Pro 2018 and it is compatible with 2i2! Right now my problem is I can’t get the Multitracker our of audio trial and midi trial mode. Any idea how to do this? And any tips would be very welcome!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
