I don't know if this has been requested, can't find a specific ref. under search, so here goes..
There are many "what chord is this (guitar)" apps/pages/pgms around, and all so far don't want to match what BIAB bases it's structures and naming conventions around. You can sometimes cheat with similar inversions using slash bases to get close, but none match what I am playing when doing 'exotic' and weird chords.
So, a BIAB based version of what chord is this, by some graphic entry method would be an enormous time saving benefit for those of us who can't follow the jazz based nomenclature, so it draws from the database used by chord builder etc.
Or, does entering said strange ones in notation mode achieve this?
Just checking, did you try Window menu, MIDI Chord Detection? If you can play the notes on a MIDI keyboard, it will give you alternatives for what the chord is called. It uses the BIAB chord naming scheme. I’m a pro jazz player and I can say this function correctly identifies very complex chords.

Hi, good idea, I naturally gravitate to guitar based interfaces, so ultimately it would be nice to have the luxury of that sort of interface, but this midi approach would/should work.. Thanks for the info! And merry Xmas!
Take a look at the +++ PG Music Guitar Chord Dictionary +++ . The program has a chord look up feature where you enter the chord fingering and the program "names that chord".
I have both programs and use them extensively when I'm entering song chords into BiaB. I also have a wall chart and a book of chords but they . There is a lot of chords that I know how to finger but don't know the name of.
Also, don't overlook the built-in chordbuilder. The chord theory available when you fully open the screen can give you a good idea of what chord you're looking for.
Jim, does the Guitar Chord Dictionary allow you to use alternate tunings? I looked at the description but it doesn’t say. For example DADGAD. Especially does it allow custom tunings?
Thanks.
