Hi Folks.
Maybe this was requested before...

BIAB, under help there is an option: "What add-ons do I have"

It checks for what is installed but not what had been purchased and available for download at "your product page".

Would be helpful if BIAB compared the two lists and let install right from that Help menu item.

I agree, there are so many products that it is easy to accidentally overlook one in installation!

That is exactly what happened to me, I was 400+ styles short & missing other good things, because it was a clean install and I simply forgot.

It could work both ways to benefit of users and PG. The "forgetful" user part is covered, the PGmusic part would be...to identify what is NOT purchased and installed and offer a tour (youtube?) of the missing product and direct link to purchase it.

+1. Nice idea.

As a related idea, how about adding a checkbox to the "What Add-ons I Have" feature that enables the "Band-in-a-Box Download Manager". Then the Download Manager can download and install any Add-ons the user has posted in their online account.

If you buy everything, the program gives good assurances that you have all the styles, tracks etc. But for those who do not purchase everything, this idea could be useful.

Jim's good suggestion might involve some difficult programming, to query what you bought but didn't install, and the query would involve logging in to your account. But if it could be done, +1.

Matt,
yes I was thinking of similar idea how Jim described it.
Most importantly, so it keeps the record of available and purchased Add Ons. (Xtr Paks, loops etc.) Query, Yes! That is how many software titles with upgrade path operate these days. It does not have to be "automatic", checking each time, on demand smile

Again, I see this can be beneficial for both users<->PGmusic

I believe many users want access to everything PG Music offers. PG Music has the tools in place to automatically let a user know when something is missing. What is needed is bundling the tools together so three tools communicate and act as a single tool.

I am confident integrating "What Add-ons do I have?", a User's Online Account and the Band-in-a-Box Download Manager into one tool will benefit PG Music and users.

Checking what one has installed would be a huge amount easier if the data couild be written to a .log file or some such. I'm perfectly capable of comparing two lists, but tring to read and check all the entries in those daft little boxes on the what add-ons window is a struggle.

Cut and paste allows some tidying, but it still seems very dumb to me.

There may also be some gaps in the data, for example, I can't see loops02 or supertracks in either the installed or the non-installed data.

Or melodists, or artist performances, or how Disks and PAKs interrelate, or loops-with-style. Are there others? ... I've only just found loops-with-style.

Apparently I have the following "Style Disks", but I cxan't presently see how that relates to what PGMusic sells, so I'm getting very confused.

Styles Disks :
0 (Built-in)
,1 ,2 ,3 ,7 (Country)
,10 (Pop)
,12 ,16 (Blues)
,21 ,26 ,28 ,40 ,42 ,44 ,46 ,48 ,49
,50 ,51 ,52 ,53 ,54 ,57 ,58
,60 ,61 ,62 ,63 ,67 ,70

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
