I'm hoping to find a good, free, safe and conflict free MP3 tag editor.
Any one here using one you trust and works well enough?
Key features I hope to find.
A. Simple. Not bloated with file converters and other stuff I don't need.
B. Low CPU usage.
C. BY-pass FreeDB or whatever that online database is that tries to automatically identify and rename my files.
D. Launch from a menu with a right click on an MP3 file.
E. Hopefully allows me to insert a picture or album cover but not necassary.
F. Maybe I already have one and don't know it if it's built into Windows Media Player or something else.
I used to have one that worked great but either it did not transfer over from my old XP computer or is not compatible with my W 8.1 computer.
The reason I want it is so I can put my and my clients stamp on the tracks I make for them. So, when others open the MP3 files from emails they will get the tag info. The one I used in the past, I thought it was a product from Illustrate but can't find it, would scroll the tag info in the top corner of Windows Media Player and display the song writer's art as an album cover. That was nice.
Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

I've been using Mp3tag for a number of years, seems relatively painless and idiot proof!

Hope this helps

That's 3 votes for MP3Tag. Great dev. Really responsive. Regular updates. Donation-based. Free to use without restrictions.

Another +1 for MP3tag. Great program.

The MP3tag beta was released 20 years ago; May 24, 2000.

I'm not sure of the feature base, but Microsoft have one:

Mp3tag Free

My other comment is to not choose anything from the Softonic website. This tends to be full of bloatware.

I use NCH Stamp ID3 tag editor. No problems with it and it was free. It has some useful batch processes. Need to spend a bit of time on it and dig in but powerful.

VideoTrack,

I believe you may have looked at the earlier posts a little too quickly.

The program available from the Microsoft Store is the same program almost everyone else mentioned, MP3Tag by Florian Heidenreich.

The link provided earlier in this thread DOES NOT lead to a Softronic download link. I believe the domain is German. +++ https://www.mp3tag.de/en/ +++

Okay. I'm trying mp3Tag. It says it's only for windows 10 but it's working on my 8.1 computer. I downloaded it from the link TheMaartian posted. Thanks. I first tried NCH Stamp but it doesn't have a save button so it's a little confusing what's happening. I kept loosing my edits. Then when I opened the same file it mp3Tag the edits I made in Stamp were there. So, go figure.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
