It's not often I get stumped by chord entry but this one has me beat.
I'm well aware of the new microchords feature and use it occasionally successfully and I'm sure that this chord run has its solution in microchords - but how?
Its a key change chord run from A up to D in what sound like even spaced chords and seems to be done all in one bar. But no matter how I lay them out, the chord run is the wrong timing.
Link to snippet of the actual recording -

As far as I can tell the main theme finishes on an A, the next bar (?) goes A,A#,B,C,C# (5 chords in one bar, seemingly evenly spaced?) followed by the first bar of the reprised main theme - D. I wondered if it was a combination of micro chords plus a change in beats per bar (via F5) but that doesn't seem to work either. I can play it easily but as I can't read or write stave music I'm unable go and lay it down to try and work it out.
'Help! I need somebody - -'
Completely baffled - Can anyone offer a solution please?

(As a complete anorak aside, the ending of The Beatles 'I Saw Her Standing There'' has a very similar chord run.)

This worked for me with both MIDI and RTs:

Damn, spent way to long. I was working only in midi and MST. Started to sound promising, then just went to pot. good luck.

Hi Mario
I tried it in a new SGU and transposed it to A and Yep that works thank you very much, BUT your range is from C to G and in your key I only would go from the C to the F. In mine if I leave Beat 4 empty there is a clunky gap before the F kicks for the reprised main theme.
Would it be right to make the microchords bar only 3 beats?

PS love the byline.

is the problem trying to get five chords into four beats? microchords still only give you 16 possible entries and 16 doesn't divide by 5. even using triplets i can't see a way of getting fifteen or ten come to that.

could you play it in live using midi? can you do it in a bar of 5/4? although that probably would be even worse..........

I believe this is what you want. The 5 ascending chords A-A#-B-C-C# are quarter note triplets, preceded by a quarter note triplet rest.

Hi Mark
That is spot on, if a little jerky at 150bpm. lol.
I never thought to look at that box marked 16th Auto - not that I would know what a triplet is - apart from 3 kids being born at the same time. blush

Now all I gotta do is work out the ending they used which is some of the opening notes of Also Sprach Zarathustra - i.e. in The Shadows final key it's a D major chord immediately followed by Dm (sounding like a hammer off on a guitar that plays F#/F to suit) that is held and then a finale Held D major. Crash!!
Thank you Mario, Bob and Mark for your help. I really could not get my head around it.

Glad you got it "work". And I don't think I am being overly picky or anal, but seriously, how does this chord chart make any sense to a musician? I sure the programer got a big bonus, but just because he could do it, does not mean he should have done it. Maybe just me! crazy

Oh, and by the way, while this is better than my original attempts, I don't think this matches the orignal lick.

For sure it needed to be done, the restriction of 4 beats to the bar messing up many modern songs. The difficulty is in using it when you have no proper musical training. Perfect case in point. Fortunately the likes of me has proper musicians on our Furum prepared and willing to help.
Not sure either how it could have been done differently or better(ly). ;-)

wow........just goes to show what we play is more complicated than it seems when you analyse it in 'proper' musical terms

i'm always intrigued by guitar tab that names some amazingly complicated sounding chord when all Chuck Berry did was slide a shape one fret and lift a finger..........

glad you got it sorted

Roffle. Yeah, it’s hard to imagine a band sightreading that, although the standard notation is simple and straightforward enough.
