Well, I'm going to reinstall. I can't install from 2024.
Do I have to install from 2023?
Posted By: Andrew - PG Music Re: How to reinstall - 02/26/24 09:12 PM
Can you provide some more details about what you are trying to accomplish. Do you not have 2024 installed already?
Posted By: swingbabymix Re: How to reinstall - 02/27/24 05:43 AM
I want to use the LOOP function normally. I decided to reinstall BIAB. This is the first time I've reinstalled BIAB in years. (Because I've been having trouble using LOOP on my BIAB2024)

I see a lot of PAK, 49PAK
Do all PAK of 2010-2021 need to be installed?

There is no need to install it.

I only need to follow the PAK of 2022, 2023 and 2024, because the content of 2010-2021 is included?

Who can tell me, please? Because it has not been installed for a long time, I see many files and do not know which ones to install.

I think you have decided to reinstall because of another thread about loops and solving a problem by reinstalling. Before you go for the drastic option of reinstalling why not try to solve the loops problem ? Describe exactly what the problem is and PG staff might be able to help - even if a patch is needed. Have you tried Return to Factory Settings?

I reset it. But there are still problems. A LOOP cannot be generated, but it is occasionally generated.
I decided to reinstall it. But there's a lot to discover. So come and ask what doesn't need to be installed.

Or, because of the large upgrades in recent years, there is no need to install the past. Now it's all about the old stuff, right?

SwingBabyMix, Here is the easiest way to go back to an earlier version of Band-in-a-Box.

1) Rename the root Band-in-a-Box folder. For example, rename C:\bb to C;\bb2024.

2) Optional depending on the program installer you use. Rename the RealBand folder. For example, rename C:\RealBand to C:\RealBand 2024

3) Run the installer file for whichever version of BiaB you want to use. Do a minimal install that only installs Band-in-a-Box and possibly RealBand. The installer file will create new C:\bb and (possibly) new C:\RealBand folders.

4) Move ALL the sub folders from the old C:\bb2024 to the new C:\bb

You'll likely have to activate the serial number of whichever version of BiaB you installed.

Once you are finished creating your loops you can return to the latest version by renaming the folders.

You can keep multiple versions of Band-in-a-Box by having multiple versions of the C:\bb folder. Whichever folder is named C:\bb will be the one you use.

Do you have a Band-in-a-Box hard drive? Do you have an UltraPAK download? Maybe you could find the Loops and reinstall that content only to start with. I would suggest that you save your custom loops somewhere else, then remove the loops folder and reinstall the loops. If you can PM me your 2024 order details I can advise on how best to reinstall, as I don't know what you have.

I believe the answer is YES.

Previous years' Paks are not needed.

Each year, BiaB is released with that year's bonus Pak, 49 Paks, additional content Paks, etc.

The content in these year-specific Paks, including RealTracks and Styles, will be added to future years' RealTrack exe files.

In your case, you have exe installers of year 2010, 2011, 2012... 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024. All you need is to install the lastest three years exe, namely 2022, 2023, 2024, and ignore the other exe from previous years.

You won't be missing content. All the previous years content has already been added to the RealTracks exe installers.

PG Music has never confirmed this, nor have they denied this.

One of BiaB's biggest weakness compare to other software, is uninstallation.

Once you installed something, doesn't matter if it's a RealTrack exe, RealDrum exe, 49 Pak exe, Xpro exe, Xtra exe, you are done. It's impossible to perform a clean uninstall.

Windows "Program and Features" will only show the last installed item, of which you can uninstall. Other than that, nothing can be uninstalled.

Even worse, the exe will extract the files and mix them with an ocean of other files. So it's impossible to manually delete content either, because you can't even find them in the first place.

That's not true. You can uninstall any specific component from C:\bb\Uninstall.

Could you share a screenshot of this folder? I looked into this folder, not all uninstallers were there, and the file names are confusing, hard to tell which is which.

Mine looks like this, with LOTS of other listings above - I had to scroll down to find names that 'made sense' to me for products. I run my BB from an OmniPAK hard drive, so the BB uninstall folder on my C drive was very small, since it was just the minimum that needs to be installed to the computer.

But BIAB has a lot of unloading. It does confuse me. On top of that, I found out that the unpacking was probably to delete some files from D:/bb.

Therefore, I ended up deleting all of D:/bb without using BIAB's unloader.

OK I'm ready to give it a try.

You should download and install these files, as it looks like you have old versions:
realtracks406-411.exe
realtracks417-422.exe
realtracks423-425.exe

I have all the RealTracks installed.

You may not understand what I'm saying.

Let me restate the question:

I have to install BIAB 2023, then BIAB 2023 build1013, and finally BIAB 2024 to have the full number of styles 11,130

If I don't have BIAB 2023 build1013 installed, and I just install BIAB 2023 and BIAB2024, then 13 style is lost forever.

So, I wonder if this is a design error?

I think the styles were added during 2023, and are included in the patch as well as the latest RealTracks installers. So I don't think there is an error or mystery.

My reaction is that I have to install version 2023 1013. If I don't install the 2023 1013 version, then there will be 13 less styles.

Because after calculation, this represents 0.00118181818% of potentially missing files.
That wouldn't stop me from sleeping.

And you ?

thank you. But I don't need you to give it to me.
Because it's in BIAB 2023 VER1013. But if I don't install BIAB 2023 VER1013, then I lose style 13.

I think these 13 styles should be in BIAB2024.

For example, if someone buys BIAB2024 and installs all of the REALTRACKS and styles, and still finds that 13 styles are missing, but installs them all again, there may be a misunderstanding.

So, I'm here to tell him that these 13 styles are in BIAB2023 VER1013.

To be honest, I think it was a mistake in my work.

Because in the past, I asked do the latest updates all include the past? The answer is yes. But obviously these 13 styles are not included.

Even if you gave it to me.
100 more people, you want to keep giving?

So, can we BIAB official supplement these 13 styles in the new upgrade of BIAB2024?

No, you just need to install the last RealTracks installers from your account (that were included with 2024), as I said.

Maybe because of the translation, I didn't understand your reply correctly. I'm really sorry.
You mentioned the latest RealTracks.
Excuse me, is this RealTracks446-448 file? Is that right?

Excuse me. I want to be careful.
Does that mean I should re-download these RealTracks? Because you updated these three files again? Is that right?

Since I am not familiar with English language, I must ask carefully.

For example, if your BIAB is updated, you would say. I'll update it. (1102,1103...1109..etc)

But when you say your "latest RealTracks" do you mean that you will update RealTracks as well? So which one did you update to solve the problem? Can you tell me which file I need to download again?

I mentioned #429 because your screen capture from post:

showed missing [N/A] RealTracks from set #429 (and #427):

For me, it takes a long time.
Re-download, update, re-install, very slow.
So, I have to ask very carefully every time.

NONONO

I don't want to test anymore. I only remember it working in 2023. But it won't work in 2024. I can't lose time with this LOOP.

Thank you for remembering that I reinstalled it to use LOOP.
