Hi folks,

Is there a simpler way to find other realtracks that will match the time and feel of a chosen realtrack?

I have looked at the realtrack picker window and other than the three boxes at bottom with NA, realtrack variations and tempo out of range I can't see anything to make it easier to find similar time and tempo realtracks. Maybe I am missing something here. I know there is a beats per minute in that window but as that would be adjusted anyways when I regenerate a realtrack its not a great help in finding similar feel realtracks.

I do know that it’s possible to do searches in the style filter window to find styles similar to prototype but at the moment I just want to find similar feel realtracks.

Thank you for any help

Hi Jan,

Here's what I do to narrow the field of choice ...

1. Enter into the style picker. If you cannot see the full names of the column headers (or the full contents in the column), it'd necessary to expand the width of the column. To do that, hover the mouse pointer over the left edge of the column you want to expand. The mouse point will change to become a black vertical line with a double-sided horizontal arrow - as seen in the image below. Once you have that cursor, hold the left mouse button down and drag to the right. This will expand the column (see the second picture below).

Expanded column ...

2. Now that the column is set so that everything can be seen, left-click on the column's heading "Tempo". This will sort the column by tempo. (An asterisk appears beside to "Tempo*" to show that this is the sort column.)

I do this because my first preference is always to use Realtracks near to the tempo of the song I'm writing. I've found that if a Realtrack's recommended tempo is too far removed from my song's tempo, artifacts spoil the sound of the Realtrack when it's generated.

3. Once I've sorted by tempo, I then scroll through the list of Realtracks and use the "sw" (swing feel) and "ev" (even feel) to narrow the field further.

Hope this helps,
Noel
Good tips Noel. It's a shame the picker view does not allow multiple filtering options. As soon as you click on another column header, the original choice, for example feel, reverts back to original listing and the filter then ONLY applies to the new column selected.

It would be nice if one could select several columns at once.
Thank you Noel and Joden for your replies.

Noel your suggestions are very good and I will use them when picking the realtracks in future. It will make the process a little easier for me I hope.

Thanks again

+1; an enhanced search and better keywording of styles would be a nice addition to future versions of BIAB.
