As you know, Band-in-a-Box has been around for many, many, many years!

Let's take a look back to November 2002, and the release of Band-in-a-Box 12 for Windows... some of the new features released included:
  • MIDI File to Style Wizard - automatically converts a MIDI file to a Band-in-a-Box Style.
  • "Twice and many instruments" with GM2 Support - this added 129 new instruments to styles and songs, including the ukulele, mandolin, 12-string guitar and more!
  • Guitar Chord Diagrams on the Notation - an option for standard Guitar Chord diagrams to be included in the notation display.
  • You can now loop any section of the song - handy for looping a full chorus or other section of a song for practice or performance.
  • Styles Improved - all of the Styles for Band-in-a-Box were enhanced with new StyleMaker features including guitar and other fretted instrument voicings, consistent volume levels, edited patterns, and more!

What was your first version of Band-in-a-Box?
BIAB for DOS, version 2
BIAB for DOS, version 2, me too. If I remember correctly, it was on One 3.5 diskette. I use to carry around in my shirt pocket and brought it everywhere with me.

As a side note: Windows 3.1 required 24 (3.5) diskettes.

My first version of BIAB were the disks in 1995. I was new to computers and really struggled to understand the PC and BIAB.
I discovered Band-in-a-Box with version 8, so I guess that would be sometime 1999. And have upgraded every time since. I remember going through the upgrade from 16-bit to 32-bit and looking forward to ultimately going from 32-bit to 64-bit.
Version 5 for Atari - 1992

Still got the disks, not sure about the Atari, it might be hidden somewhere, I'm quite sentimental about old computers.
