If I go into Options - Prefs - Display, BIAB locks solid and is only released by using the Escape key. All the other boxes in Prefs seem to open and work OK.
This, of course stops any changes to Font etc from the factory settings.
Anyone else with the same issue??
Ian
PS - I HAVE re-installed the software after a new download - no different.
Thanks for raising this issue Ian. I posted a couple of days ago that I was having the exact same problem.

It works fine on my desktop machine running Windows 7 but not on my Windows 10 notebook installed from the same download.

I'm running Biab on a PC running XP.
I've just gone back to my 2015 BIAB until PG sort this out!
I guess they've got 30 days or I can get a Refund!! Lol!!

Ian and Richard,

In 2016, display options can also be accessed by right-clicking on the Chordsheet (#1 on the graphic below). This approach might let you access the display settings. It would be worth trying.

Hi Noel
Running on XP, this is a No Go too.
Using the chordsheet has the same effect -
Click on "Display Options" and BB freezes. Use Escape key to get out asap.
Click on "Preferences" and it takes you to the usual Preferences boxes. Click on "Display" - the dark blue banner turns light blue, "OK", "Cancel" and "Help" buttons disappear and BB lock up. Again, use Escape key pronto.
This is a really bad bug for someone whose peepers are less than perfect and needs to change the Font etc etc.

Same problem with Win7 but OK with 8.1

Tony
Ditto for me too Noel.

Works fine on my Windows 7 machine but I get exactly the same result as Ian on my Windows 10 notebook. It's not as if it's some obscure brand and it has an nvidia video card with the latest drivers. Everything else I've tested so far work fine - it's just this Display window that won't open.

Not a great answer but you may want to play around with your display settings. There maybe an interaction between the resolution of your monitor and the selected display setting.

I remember when the updated GUI was released in 2014 BiaB, some people had to play with their display settings or change the monitor resolution.

I've passed the link to this thread on to PG Music so that they can have a read through it. It sound like something that needs drawing to their attention.

We'll have a look at that. Note that the font and color can be changed from the display button so there hopefully isn't a compelling reason to visit that particular dialog until it's fixed.

Give the man a Prize off the Top Shelf! It IS a great answer!
NOTE - this FIX works for my XP - can't vouch for any other OS, but gotta be worth a try.
I have my monitor set to 1024 x 768 - I need CLARITY and to be able to see ALL my BIAB screen.
I went into "Display" on my computer's Control Panel and reset the Resolution from this to 1152 x 864. I opened BIAB2016 and sure enough the margins of the GUI have gone off screen - for instance the left hand bars - Bars 1, 5, 9, 13 etc etc have disappeared into the left hand desert somewhere. HOWEVER - I was able (just) to get the "Display" icon on Options - Preference and using this screen res I was able to open it AND make the changes!!!!! Yee Haaaa!
So, I then went back to Control Panel and reset back to 1024 x 768.
I guess this is just a Workaround until Mr Gannon and his Top Team get a Fix in - but maybe others with this Issue can try Jims suggested fix - and report back.
Many thanks, Jim
Ian
PS - IF I kept the higher res, is there a way I can RE-SIZE the desktop GUI so that it once more fits the screen?? At the moment, on anything other than 1024 x 768, too much falls off the screen. IS there a way to "re-compress the BIAB screen??
Not sure about XP anymore, but look in your Windows Control Panel under Display. Have you changed the size of fonts from the default 100% to a higher setting (125%)? If so, change it back. This happened to me in beta testing. BIAB didn't actually freeze, though it looks like it and your instinct is to use Task Manager to recover, but actually there is another window with a myriad of options, waiting for you to say OK.

Also, normally you should use the highest resolution your monitor can support (yours seems rather low). Things may be small to read, but see if all of BIAB 'fits'. This will likely require a reboot.
Hi Matt
Font size is set at "normal" - there are other LARGER font sizes available, but nothing smaller.
I used 1024 x 768 cos it was the only one that got the GUI to fit and gave me a full screen that I liked.
However - here are the results I got from various screen settings -
1024 x 768 - Current setting - Love the screen but the Display function doesnt work - as above.
1152 x 864 - Display now works but GUI sides missing.
1280 x 720 - Display DOESNT work.
1280 x 1024 - Display works OK.
1360 x 768 - Display DOESNT work.
1400 x 1050 - Display works OK.
I have reset my Monitor to the 1280 x 1024 to see if I can get on with it. My peepers arent what they used to be and I'll see how I get on with the smaller top section.

Ian
Good work, Ian. These results MUST be sent to PG Music Support. That's farther than we were able to get in brief testing. It's time consuming to do what you did, with reboots. Nice job.

About the eyes, isn't that the truth! I'm at 1680 x 1050, but at 65 I need special prescription glasses for mid-distance (and they work for music on a stand, too).

Thanks. Glad you got things worked out.

It looks like that particular dialog ( prefs - display) is too big for a low res display 1024x768 . We will fix that in next build. As mentioned, a workaround is to set to a higher resolution, or to just not use the dialog (and use the display button in the toolbar to change fonts)
Peter,

For what it's worth, I run 1024 x 768 using Vista and the Display Option window sits centre screen with about 0.5 cm to spare top and bottom.

Regards,
Noel
Show Off!!! Lol
Maybe it's peculiar to XP?

Thanks for the update Peter. My Windows 10 notebook has the following resolutions available:
1024x768
1280x720
1280x768
1360x768
1366x768 (the recommended setting)
and none of these work with the current display window.

LOL!

Woooops... caught out smile
Now that I'm trialling the "new" resolution of 1280 x 1024 I find the following "wrinkle" happening -
I set the Display to be Arial Bold font and my chords all jump to attention and ARE Arial Bold.
If I come out of BIAB and re-initiate it I find it has gone back to its default. If I go to Display again, I can see that it still says Arial Bold (?) and if I click on the "OK" button, once more the chords change to what they SHOULD be.
Bizarre!!
Ian
Before you send that one to support@pgmusic.com try Options, Return to Factory Settings.

Exactly the same problem here.

There are several other screen resolution-related problems and anomalies for users with medium sized monitors, for example:

1. You can't see the "Audio" menu, because it's covered by that enormous mixer (which you can't hide):

2. The Realdrums window is too big for computers using 1366x788 (the maximum resolution allowed on many modern laptops, including mine). To get that problem solved, you need to manually change that window size several times until you can see the whole window.

3. While a half of the screen is occupied by menus and enormous icons (which you can't remove), The main chordsheet is too small, making the chords unreadable, specially on songs with many chords.

Honestly, I expected these problems to be solved in v.2016...
