Apologies if this is old stuff, but I am just getting back into BIAB after several years away.

I am now running BIAB 2017, and the Chord Builder plays back chords using a huge organ sound. Is there a way to have it playback using a simple piano sound?

Many thanks for your wise counsel..

Hi Rob,

There are a couple of settings that are needed.

1. I'm not sure that this is still required but just to be safe, in the "Preferences | MIDI Driver" settings, select Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. (See the upper image below.)

2. The sounds for Chord Builder are controlled by the top two tracks of the mixer. These are 'Bass' and 'Piano' on the lower image below. To change the chord builder sounds it's necessary to set a midi sound for these tracks.

To set such a midi sound, follow the 1-2-3 on the lower image below.

  • Right-click on the right side of the track's instrument window
  • Select 'Select midi instrument patch'
  • Select the instrument

All the best,
Noel

Yes, it is a bit hidden. Glad you got it working!
