HI all

As some of you know I made a Vsti for Yamaha xg lite voices available and a pat file a way back. I have been using this as my default synth, as I know some of you have .
I have had no problems with the 2substyle A&B type styles .and often use the editable midi drums instead of Realdrums.

Now for the rub its got me beat.
You will not have come across this if you use Realdrum automatic substitution.
Only if you change to midi drums and then only on styles that contain 4substyles A.B,C,D

I have had some problems when using my XG lite vsti with the 4 substyle styles, the drum track seems to forget it is on ch 10 and reverts to piano for standard drum kit.
Even the count in sounds piano once this occurs.
Replacing just the drum track synth with the coyote wt all is fine and the drums play as they should.

The trigger seems to be once you have evoked substyles C and or D all is fine and the drums sound on all substyles and the count in, UNTIL YOU REGENERATE OR CAUSE THE SONG TO REGENERATE BY MOVING BARS AROUND ETC
After this the drum track seems to forget it is supposed to be a drum track I am guessing it forgets its ch 10 mad

I have tried everything I can think of including using the Dgx pat file from BIAB
Which is XG lite set plus the Dgx ‘s panel voices just to eliminate my patch file,
No change, not surprised as my patch file does the job right up to the point of regeneration of the song.

I am extremely embarrassed about this and hope my VSTI has not caused any problems or head scratching for anyone but it does seem confined to the 4 substyle styles, so maybe it’s a PG problem .
You can work around by inserting the Coyote Wave table vst for just the drum track if you indeed want to use midi drums with these styles, and my XG lite vst as the defaut for the other voices

Any ideas out there.
Mike

Hi all

Well no thoughts on this one then?

I have tried all sorts of midi default settings to do with drums on the midi settings options preferences page, but to no avail
The trigger still seems to to do with the 4 substyle styles after regeneration.
Up until then all is well and the drums behave as they should.

That is if I bring up a style and on each new line of 4 bars you evoke A (blue),
B (green). C (orange), D (magenta) all sections play drums correctly .
But the moment you regenerate or cause the song to regenerate by editing it, the drums drop through to piano if using the standard drum kit.
This does not happen on normal 2 substyle styles ever.
So what is the problem?? has me beat.

Heeeellllpppp please confused frown tired

HI it’s cold and lonely here. frown

Well I begin to feel like the invisible man.
Still no thoughts out there?

I guess I will just have to have coyote wave table in the drum track
When using 4 variation styles with my XG lite synth Vsti.

This is so odd though as my synth must be Midi compliant to work fine on the 2 var.Styles and even the 4 var. until you regenerate.
I have checked in the Channels Screen and all is fine and ch still set to 10 after regeneration
In fact I can see nothing that has changed at all.

But once this has happened there is no going back and the song file stays like this forever, even if saved. When played back, even in RB if I use my synth it plays piano.
As if it did not know it was on CH10
However the file does not seem corrupted as if I change the drum synth to Coyote WT
In BIAB or RB it plays just fine.
Very odd so what ever has changed only effect, playback through my Vsti

Perplexed confused

Mike,
I don't have an answer for this, maybe it's worthwhile contacting PG Music support directly?
HI ALL

Just in case anyone is still following this.
I am sad to say that the problem is still there in BIAB 2018.
However I have found two more work around tricks for this .

1:
If using Midi Drums.
Freeze the drum track before doing any regenerations, you can then regenerate all the other parts as often as you like.

2:
Or choose Real drums instead of midi drums.
For many of you that will happen automatically when the style loads, if you have not prevented it from doing so in your preferences RealDrums.

I can live with that so all is well. cool

Have fun
Mike
