Hi folks,

Just getting around to having a look at the new video feature on realtracks, and trying it out.

When rendering I get the error that Quicktime is not installed, and it fails.

Since quicktime I believe is no longer supported by Apple, is there any other option that I can use?

Thanks for any info on this.
HI

Yes I had to download and install Quicktime before the video would render.

However you don’t have to use it or even let it associate it self with its audio file types. Or update itself.
My guess is that simply installing it adds an encoder to your windows system that BIAB needs to render the audio stream of the video.
As although windows these days can play quick time audio they seem well of for decoders these days, but a bit light on encoders.
Had no probs with it here but do get it from APPLE as below!

Hmmm, I hope PG has another option rather than asking us to install QuickTime for Windows! Almost two years ago the US Gov and Apple recommended we uninstall it!

"Last week, the Department of Homeland Security recommended Windows users uninstall Quicktime because of potential security holes, and now Apple is echoing that advice. The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple has confirmed it'll no longer update or support Quicktime 7 for Windows. Apr 19, 2016"
We've introduced Windows methods that don't require QuickTime. So they only use QuickTime if the Windows method fails. The Windows method should never fail on Windows 7 or higher, so we'll check that one out.
When I first attempted to render a video on Windows 7 64 Ultimate, it required me to install QuickTime. There was a dialog requesting me to do this. It didn't appear to be an option.

Maybe that's changed since the beta?
Rendering videos requires the ability to make .m4a audio files.

The QuickTime library (not the player - you can choose not to install this) is required for encoding .m4a, but only if you have Windows Vista or Windows XP. If you are using Windows 7 or higher and you are asked to install QuickTime, then there could be an error. You can find out what the error is by going to:

Help > Utilities > Display Log Text file of Yellow/Green Messages...

If there was an error converting to .m4a, the error would start with "Media Foundation failed to convert to .m4a". It would be very helpful if you could let us know the error number.

This is what I found Blake on W7 64bit Ultimate:

That is the only occurrence in the file from 21-Nov until today.
Thanks, I will look into it.

I have not used videotracks sofar, but for some other stuff needing quicktime like Cubase when making soundtracks to video files, i installed Quicktime Lite 4.1.0 and can recommend it .. - F
