Just happen to be checking through the updates section to be sure I have the latest updates. Happen to notice all of the RealTrack updates.

My assumption is that if you order the UltraPak or the UltraPak+ each year you would get the Realtrack updates. But what happens if you order the PlusPak Upgrade which includes only the new program and new RealTracks? This is what I do each year.

My thinking is that you would not get the previous RealTrack updates. In this case, I need to go back and download the previous RealTrack updates to get myself up to the current RT patch levels.

Is this right?

Not AFAIAA. Any RT update patches are included in the latest BIAB version. If you just install the PlusPAK files over your last year's UltraPAK you should have everything I believe. That's what I have done and nothing seems to be missing. The only thinks you might not have are previous Xtra style packs if you hadn't bought and installed them previously.

I agree with you.

Since the UltraPak and UltraPak+ are all Realtracks, Realdrums, MIDI Supertracks, etc., (except for bonus material), these would contain update files.

Regarding the PlusPak, though, as far as I'm aware, it only provides the newly released components of the new version of BIAB/RB.

I haven't bought the PlusPak for a few years but my recollection is that since it is downloadable, the files consist of the BIAB/RB program file and then grouped sets of Realtracks. Updates were not mentioned in any of the documentation and no downloadable file had 'update' attached to its name.

The above said, the PlusPak can only be installed over the previous year's UltraPak or UltraPak+ installations. This means that it is reasonable to include updates for earlier tracks in the PlusPak since the previous installation should have all files.

It's a question worth asking someone at PG Music using Live Help.

This is what I did:
As I have a new laptop, I first downloaded my previous version(2014) in my case everything pack into my laptop full install from hd

Then I downloaded my new 2019 version UltraPak into the same folder so I got all my real tracks now from 2014 to 2019 now that said if you only upgrade to plus pack yes you’ll only get the new real tracks that are included in that pack, but you’ll still have your older ones as long as your downloading to the Same bb folder

One thing to note that I found out once you download everything, and you open up the app... in stylepicker you have to regenerate the styles so it picks up everything you have

I've never been fully sure of this so I keep the .EXE file for every Xtra and Bonus Pak etc. It does no harm to run an installer if you already have the files.

Also, going from 2014 to 2019, realize that the folder structure changed, so bee sure to ruin the cleanup routine (under the help menu) to move everything to its proper place, otherwise you won't see all your content. The new folder structure was implemented with BB 2018.

Is Band In A Box installed as E:\bb? Or do you use another name for the program folder (for example, E:\bb2019, etc.)?

Z an idea might be to check those items that you have errors with, that they are still in the bb root folder although maybe in a different folder there, have been moved to give a more cleaner look, the songs and lessons folder is usually a good place to look.

I do know that I used to have a very unorganised bb folder with lots of songs in the root bb folder, and do feel that the clean up utility might have got rid of them for good, as I can't see them anywhere, but was nothing really important anyways.

If the source folder does not exist (perhaps cleanup was previously run or those features were never initially installed), you will see those messages as it checks for files. Cleanup can't move files from a folder that isn't there, obviously.

For anyone reading this thread, some background might help. We haven't heard much about the Cleanup routine recently because it was needed in BIAB 2018 when the files in the /BB folder were greatly reorganized. Along comes BIAB 2019, and anyone who upgraded from BIAB 2017 or earlier is probably a little confused. When everything gets placed in the right folder, however, it is a lot easier for both you and the program to find things.

It does no harm to run that cleanup routine anytime, either standalone or from within the menu. Respectively:

/BB/Data/BB_Cleanup.exe

Help menu, Utilities, Run Cleanup routine

That is a normal result and you wouldn't normally need to run the utility manually. It gets run automatically when you install Band-in-a-Box, and if you're interested in what it did you can check the log file that it saves.




This means that there was a 'cleanup instruction' to move the SoundTrack Fakebook folder (source folder) from the root of the bb folder to the bb\Songs and Lessons folder (destination), but the source folder didn't exist. This is probably because it's already in the destination "clean" folder. Also, it wanted to move styles from the root to the Styles subfolder but there were none to move.
