I'd like to create a video of a MIDI track so a friend can practice on their keyboard. I'd like to have the Big Piano Window included in the video active showing keys being struck as the song plays.

Any way to do this?
John,

If the RT you're using has a video RT associated with it, it's possible to export the backing straight to video.

Other than that...

If you generated and then froze the track, you could screen-capture the track as it played. The track could then be exported as audio and the video and audio could be matched in a suitable video editor. This wouldn't be hard to do at all.

Regards,
Noel
Thanks Noel! It is only a MIDI track I am interested in and not an RT.

I already tried video capturing the screen and reintegrating it with audio in a video editor. The problem is it is really difficult to exactly line up the video and audio. I tried several times and it always seemed to drift out of synch over the 5 minute duration of the song. And the moment the highlighted piano keys don't match the audio it becomes useless as a teaching tool.

I was hoping this could be output to video with the Big Piano window intact for a perfectly synced video.
Just free video/audio screen capture software.

You can try Active Presenter it's free and after you have recorded you can slide the audio to sync with the video.
Thanks Pipeline. I downloaded three different free ones and none of them would capture audio along with the video. So I tried capturing video, exporting audio and then integrating them in video editor but did not get useful results. Lots of trial and error and the finished video would not keep them synched prolly because I did not have them perfectly lined up.

Do you know of a free capture program that will also get audio? I own an older version of Camtasia and it will work but I don't wanna pull it out of mothballs and install it!
Active Presenter https://atomisystems.com/download/
will record audio with the video, you can slide the track to the left after to sync if there is delay.

Thanks so much for this suggestion! Active Presenter worked like a charm recording screen and audio perfectly synched and then saved out to mp4!
HI John

Yes I gave it ago as well works very well.
But wont record the Audio for me if I use My AKAI pro interface Asio driver.
However if I use MME driver for the program I am trying to screen capture with sound it works fine and also with Bandlabs Cakewalk
This is probably due to Asio driver only allowing one instance.
Still as I say fine with onboard sound chip and hd sound driver for my big screen sound.
So nice find thanks Pipeline!

Get Voicemeeter Banana https://www.vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/banana.htm
set your audio device as the hardware output A1
then set the audio app/s to either Voicemeeter ASIO or Voicemeeter AUX ASIO
set hardware input 1 to Cable Output https://www.vb-audio.com/Cable/index.htm
right click on your Windows speaker icon in the system tray > playback devices, and set Cable Input as the default.
Set Voicemeeter to run at startup.
