Using an external MIDI keyboard to record a melody, I used to be able to hear what I was playing while I was playing. Now I can only hear what I recorded during playback. Can anyone think what setting I might have changed? I can't work it out.

Is the midi keyboard just a controller with no voices of its own.
If it has its own voices maybe you have tuned local off.
As far as BIAB is concerned the thru voice is sent on ch 5 but the recording goes to the melody track ch4
So to hear the same voice on playback the melody voice and the thru voice need to be set to the same voice.
See options / preferences / channels for channels no pic below.

Also are you sending the midi to the default internal synth /vst or out to your keyboard , if it has voices, and is your synth, see midi settings route midi thru to midi device
