Greetings to all...

I just discovered the BIAB plugin that is now out. I really want this. cry

The way I understand it, it comes with upgrades as well as buying new BIAB bundles. If I wanted to upgrade my 2017 version to the 2019 upgrade ($79.00 USD) will I get the plugin with this upgrade? If someone tells me "yes" then I'm putting my order in right away. grin

I was just about to order... but nowhere in the description of what I'm buying does it mention anything about the plugin. Wouldn't I be asked to pick what DAW I want it for?

I'm sure it will be OK... but I'm just a bit leery about pulling the trigger until being totally assured that I'll get the plugin with my order.

Hi,

rest assured you will receive your plugin together with the 2019 update.

The plugin is in the form of a VST plugin, that is: if you DAW suports VST, then it will support the BIAB plugin.

Greetings

The plugin is still being improved. It has been tested with the more common DAWs. Be aware the plugin is a subset of the features of the main program.

See the Plugin part of the Forum for video tutorials on how to use it with various DAWs.

Yes... I watched the videos last night. smile

Remember, just as with BIAB, the amount of content available to you with the plugin is the same as the BIAB package you purchase. So if you only have the Pro Pak, you will have the same limited number of RealTracks to use in the plugin as in BIAB.

I don't know. PG Music Sales should know.

But I tend to think it won't work unless you have an extraordinary version of Windows XP, since the BIAB Plugin is 64-bit. Your Windows XP almost assuredly is not.

Time to consider upgrading to Windows 10 anyway, for a lot of reasons.

There is a 32 bit version of the plugin I do believe.

Thanks Rob. I wasn't sure, so I visited the PG Music home page for BIAB 2019 for Windows. It said this:

We include both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions, so users of 32-bit Windows® OS can still run Band-in-a-Box® 2019. We’ve also made and include a 64-bit VST Plugin of Band-in-a-Box®, which you can use inside your favorite DAW (Cakewalk, Reaper, Pro Tools, etc.) to generate styles, RealTracks, RealDrums, Multi-Riffs, etc.

That looks to me like the Plugin is 64-bit, but if it is also available in 32-bit, it would be useful to know.

IF you are buying the upgrade to only get the VST3, then be sure to hold onto your 30 day money back receipt since the VST3 plugin does not work on all systems.

Matt, I looked but couldn't find where their XP data was listed. There was a 64 bit XP so if they have it they may be able to use the plug-in.

Personally I agree that they should upgrade to Win 10 ASAP, if only for security reasons.

Yes, there was a 64-bit version of XP called the Professional version, but no one I know had it. At the time, mid-2000s, no application programs took advantage of 64-bit code.

Yes, it is provided as 32-bit. In my C:\bb\BBPlugin\Files\32-bit folder are the following files,

Band-in-a-Box DAW Plugin Standalone32.exe
Band-in-a-Box DAW VST FX Plugin32.dll
Band-in-a-Box DAW VST Plugin32.dll

Yes... I've heard about problems some folks are having with the plugin.

But I bought the update anyway. Not just for the plugin... I figured that it was about time that I do another upgrade. If and when they work out all the problems that the plugin has, I can always download the patch.

I know that the version I'm using is limited as far as all the stuff I'm missing out on by not opting for the bigger, more expensive packs. But truth be told, what I have with the smaller pack is more than enough for the kind of stuff I'm doing. I really can't see the point of putting out so much money for hundreds of styles that I will never use.

BTW... I did have a chance to give the plugin a test run. The first time I tried ended in failure. Then I decided to go back and watch the instruction video again. After doing this I'm pleased to announce that it worked exactly as advertised.

I am having a blast listening to all the new styles. I'm actually thinking that I'm gonna look into getting a couple of "Style" packs. I think I saw that they were about $50.00 or so. I do a lot of country music so I believe that it would be nice to have a lot more country styles.

Well gents and ladies...

I put the new DAW plugin through extensive tests today. I did seven different songs and each one of them were successfully dragged and dropped into Cakewalk by Bandlab with no problems whatsoever. Each song had five or six tracks, most of them Real Tracks.

The way that the plugin is working so well has turned out to be an added bonus/surprise... grin

Yes, you're right. I didn't mean for it to sound like I'm gloating. I was jumping up and down with joy because it DID work. Sorry guys. :-)

Truth be told, after all the negative reports I was hearing about it, I really wasn't really expecting it to work very well. Like I said, it was an unexpected surprise.

A lot of people (not me) worked very hard to bring the plugin this far. Thanks for your report.

The plug-in is working well here on Win 10 with Studio One. The only glitch is that the chord entry sometimes doesn't want to move to the next bar with a "enter" or "tab." But the D'n'D works fine. The Multi-riff is an exceptional feature. Well done.

But that leads me to my question. If you generate tracks in the plug-in (both tracks and riffs) and save the song, when you open the song in the stand alone, the style and chord entries are there but the generated multi-riff tracks are not.

What I am trying to do is find a way to see the tablature or at least the guitar window representation of the multi-riffs so I can learn them. Is there any way to do this. How about in Real Band since I understand (via a video) multi-riffs can be produced there also.

Anyone have any ideas?
