Is there a reason to use MIDI files as opposed to MusicXML ?

I do this a lot. I have always had success with transferring MIDI.

When I try Music XML, I have mixed success. The advantage is chord symbols also transfer. The disadvantage is that some programs do not read the Music XML, and don't tell you why.

This is not seamless nor is it working for me
