I want to suddenly stop my main song rhythm,

and just have everything play staccato hits to the beat.

Use the "shot" feature. Put a double dot after each chord. So, if you want to stop on beat 3, then two bars of shots, then back to normal,just enter:

|C..,C.. C..,C..|
|F..,F.. F..,F..|
|C |
