Hi,

I'd like to add a trumpet (solo or background) to a train style country song... I have in memory those you can hear in spaghetti western movies, a bit of a mexican style...

But I can't find any... do I missed one?

As a trumpet player, I just had to read your post. A Mexican country railroad song? Hmmm.

Weren't those movies made in Italy?

I think a Raphael Mendez type player would work (he might even be the one who played on them in the studios of the 50s and 60s).

But in BIAB? I don't know.

If I follow correctly, one of these might work:
_BOLERTS
_B140_TP
_AMAZON
_NAYARIT (3/4)
_HUELVA4

Ranchera Set#53 MIDI
MEX~34 Set#37 MIDI (3/4 time)

Thanks for your replies,

Yes I'm looking for the Raphael Mendez's style of trumpet

NAYARIT could have been the one but my song is 4/4 so the result is not great...

I think I will have to pick an Harmonica instead, more common but no choice apparently...

Good luck. Let us know how it works out.

Could you provide a link to a YouTube video with an example of what you're looking for? I could look into it, and at worst pass it forward to our developers as a feature request for you.

You might try:

RealTracks in song: 1064:Trumpet, Soloist SmoothJazzBallad Ev16 065

(set it to Half-Time to get it to work for something in the 120-140 bpm range).

You should be able to find some phrases that will work for you to fit the spaghetti-Western thing.

I used it in a song - picking phrases that worked - it is in the Showcase if you want to hear it...

To give you an exemple, as requested by Deryk (thanks for your concern, I appreciate) :

Yes, the 1064 seems to work, even if it's not exactly that, I'm gonna see if I can't do something with it anyway !

BTW Floyd, very nice song and the way you manage to blend vocal and trumpet altogether is impressive...

That's really beautiful trumpet playing.

I think he's playing with less vibrato than I recall Mendez using, but that's something that varies with the times. I don't even use as much vibrato as the YouTube example. But this is a great link - short, minor key, and very representative of the sound.

"Spaghetti trumpet" - I have to remember that.

I agree with you Matt, he is a great player !

Maybe the BIAB team could hire him for some songs ;-)

If you have the FULL (V5.8.1 or above) version of Kontakt, like the Spaghetti Western music scores and have $249 US to spare then check out +++ Spaghetti Western +++ by Fluffy Audio.

Interresting library indeed (especially the opera singer)... but a little too pricey just to add a trumpet on my song.

i immediately thought of the brass on Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire!

Thanks! I appreciate that. I've never heard the term Spaghetti Trumpet so this gives context.

Solid tune, reminds me of Ring of Fire (as someone else mentioned).

I've found a few Styles that fit the bill pretty close (to my untrained ear at least). They just don't include any trumpet, so you may need to manually add that to your track yourself. I have passed along a request for content like this, to our developers.

Try checking out these Styles:

_SITBACK
_HIPPIE
_OLDTIME
_HOKEY
_CHOO

Spagetti trumpet ... sounds cheesy. There an impressive Kontakt VST:
https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/cinematic/session-horns/

Probably expensive but i head them once in a studio ....

If you want to have total control over tone and notes you might want to try a MIDI trumpet. Google/Bing trumpet vst you will find a number of them with some being free:

https://hiphopmakers.com/free-trumpet-vst-plugins-best-trumpet-vst-instruments

Using EQ and compression you can tailor the sound to your liking.

If a RealTrack trumpet comes close and it has a scoring chart with it you can use the chart as MIDI and select a MIDI trumpet sound. This is best done in a DAW.
