Today is International Panic Day... did you know that Band-in-a-Box® has a "Panic Button"?

What does it do?

Accessible from the Play Menu (or by selecting F12), you would choose this if your MIDI notes are stuck ON and it’s driving you crazy! Also within the Band-in-a-Box® Play Menu is the "Panic should also Reset DXi synth" option, which will clear hung DXi/VSTi notes.

Yes, a helpful feature when you are going crazy with a stuck note and need it.

But did you know it used to be an actual button - an icon? I'm pretty sure that was removed in the GUI makeover of 2018 and I miss it. Unless it's hiding in plain sight somewhere...
I did know that! I don't see it there anymore either, but at least we all have F12 wink

I also wish they would bring back the panic icon.

On a typical notebook you'd need to press 2 buttons to achieve some 'F12' - that's a nuisance.

I would like the button back. But I’m not panicking.

Just seeing a JPEG image of the panic button would satisfy my needs. smile

However, as noted, not actually a 'button' any more.

Is anyone else getting a 404 page error on that Play Menu link in the original post? I'm not panicking, really I'm not ...

P.S. - My mind is getting carried away now but I'm thinking about this in cars where everything is moving to computer based interfaces - just imagine if you had to press F12 to get the button for the Emergency Brake icon! Oops!

Looks like it went the way of the panic button.....

On far right below for RB

in BB it's also under the MIDI icon
(not sure why my 2020 BB shows 2017 new features)

Its under my MIDI icon also. I still think it ought to be on the main screen.

{edit} - thanx for pointing this out.

Hi Bob,
Are you using add-on / after-market Skins?
See this post...

That can cause the 2017 new features item to appear. The changed skins (inadvertently) appear to save much more than the color of the transport icons.

Yes. There’s another longer thread where we figured this all out.

I am using the standard BiaB skins and it shows up in both the old and the new GUI.

I believe it depends on your computer's display resolution setting. I'm running 2020 BiaB build 722 on my laptop.

With the floating mixer and the original control panel I see the New Features button but the button says 2020.

With the fixed mixer and the original control panel New Features become a drop down menu selection.

With the minimal (new) control panel view and the Misc tab selected the New Features 2020 button is available.

No-one has said how F12 actually works for them
I often suffer from stuck MIDI but F12 seldom works.

Tony

I very rarely get a stuck MIDI note, but I do agree that F12 doesn't always deliver the goods.

This was also true of the actual button when we had it. It doesn’t always work, and shutting down BIAB is required.

Yes, that actually makes sense. The output would be separate from the input delivery mechanism. If one input didn't trigger the output, it's possible that a different input would achieve similar results.
