An odd one this.
I set up an SGU with a Style (from the Picker but I don't think that's relevant).
Populate with chords and more often than not it Regens OK. (Not always, if that's a clue)
However, if I change an Instrument via the Mixer it will neither Regen or even play - BB has crashed. This is true of RT Styles or Mdi styles where I want to replace a midi instrument with an RT.
A BB Reboot and I'm back to Square One.My Workaround is to change the instrument, and SAVE AS 'title v2’ etc and not attempt to Regen, shut down BB and reboot it, open 'v2’ and Regen.Etc,Etc.
Tedious and very unusual behavioud.
RTFS - MOST doesnt help. Reistall BB2022 and latest update (912) doesnt help.
Anyone get this?

Make sure you are not playing back your song while you are selecting your instrument.

The please go to Please go to Options | Return to factory settings | Return Most, and see if that helps.
Hi Chantelle
See text - I've done RTFS - MOST a couple of times just to be sure.
I can confirm that the file is not running at the time of change. The idea is to audition various instruments into the SGU style used to see if it works better than the one already there.
Indeed that is the whole point of using BB when arranging.

Hi Ian,

Andrew mentioned a pre-release patch in this post.
It's related to solving a crash issue. Maybe it's worth a try.

Hi Trev
Happy Christmas.
I am on the Pre release testing program and am on 914 already.
Over the break I'm going to install the whole sheebang on my spare Wiin7 drive.
I took 2021 off last year to concentrate on Win10. Not aware of this ever occuring in Win7 2021 so MIGHT be a 2022 thing.
Best regards
Throw another prawn on the barbie, mate.

UPDATE - I have run the old 2021 build 845 in my Win7 drive and tested it against the same SGUs.
It does NOT exhibit this behaviour

If you haven't already, I'd recommend e-mailing in the SGU to support@pgmusic.com for support to test and see if they get the same crashing.
Hi,

I tried replacing drums in Style Gumbo.Sty today and got an access violation error, I shot down BIAB and restarted - same error and same completed system lockup. So I tried rebooting my PC - same access violation error and complete lockup.

Using 2022 Build 912.

I have informed Support at PGMusic today.

Anybody else have this problem and/or workaround?

Best Regards
Nigel
I've tried and haven't so far been able to reproduce this error.

Is it possible to provide exact step-by-step points? e.g.

1: In StylePicker, Press Clear then Select Style xxx and load song from the style
2: Generate & Play
3: Press Stop
4: Right-click drums and change RealDrums to xxx
5: Press regenerate
6: etc
Hi,

It is at step 4 (as s0on as you right click on drums) that immediately the access violation error occurs and the system completely locks up.

OK, everything in Steps 1 to 3 are exactly the same, and step 4 is the only thing that makes the issue. I cannot get that to occur here. But will keep trying.

Nigel, separately, the xxx was meant for you to substitute the style names, etc. Just in case this is relevant. Any chance of that info?
Hi,

Yes - the Style is called _GUMBO.STY

I have now tried other Styles (new and old) and every Style has the same problem:

Access violation at address 005397DF in module 'bbw.exe'. Read of address 00000069.

Resolved -
Last night after testing the same SGUs in my old 2021 (845) on the old WIn7 drive and getting no such bad behaviour it HAD to be a 2022 thing.
So, a switch to Win10 and 2022 (912) (actually 914 but that doesnt matter here) and the problem was immediate, no matter what I tried.
I then replicated VideoTracks idea of using the PG Style demo SGU and as soon as I changed an instrument - CRASH!
Reinstalled 2022 - AGAIN - from the bb folder and the problem persisted.
Then a lightbulb moment. I re-DLd the 2022 from the PG site and launched it direct from the DL folder on the PC.
Instant fix!! Program now works as intended.
I had used the DL Manager first time round for 2022 instead of manually slogging through them one by one.
IS it at all possible that either the original DL was somehow corrupted en route OR the DL Manager didnt do the job properly? No ideas, but now the 2022 is working well - at my level anyway.

I'm having the same issue on my laptop, using latest pre-release build & MME drivers.
As soon as I click on RealDrums in style. Access Violation

Perhaps re-download the install files as SixChannel has mentioned and see if that resolves the issue.
Hi Ian,

Good to hear you got it sorted.

My 2022 came on a hard drive and I then ran the Setup.exe on that hard drive and installed everything onto that same E: hard drive and use the 32 bit BIAB on my Windows 8 laptop. So now only my Songs are on the Laptop hard drive. This all seems to work fine apart from this Real Drums problem.

So what do I download from the PGMusic website - is it the:

Band-In-A-Box 32Bit Application?
Setup Application?

Or What?

Thanks for your help.

Best Regards
Nigel
Hi,

I don't think is is resolved at all. What we require is advice from PGMusic as to what is the problem and detailed instructions on how to fix the problem.

Thanks & Best Regards
Nigel
