I have been experiencing low audio volumes on my THRU channel when playing to a background using my midi controller. One way I have been able to solve this is by having a Sonar TTS-1 Synth with a Dynamics Plugin inserted in the THRU track. Adjusting the gain of this did the trick. However, in the process of searching for a suitable plugin, I came across some factors that didn't apear to work for me.

1. I hadn't used any VSTs using BiaB so I wanted use one of my gain effects. So I set the search folders for the 64 bit VST, but not all of the VSTs were included after the scan and not the one that I use in Ableton and Sonar. Why would the VST not be recognised, it is standard 64-bit device.

2. I wanted to clear the list of scanned VSTs and start again, but I can't see any way of getting BiaB to remove the last. I can keep adding, but not removing.

3. I found the Sonar TTS-1 synth gave me better results than the existing default synth for the midi track and I wanted to make the TTS-1 the default synth, but I can't see any way of doing this.

I'd grateful for any help please?

Hello jonel,

1. BB doesn't yet have VST3 support, which might be the issue. Check if the plugins have VST (VST2) versions - they are probably located in a different folder. File extension for VST2 is .dll, while VST3 plugins are .vst3.

2. The settings are saved in the DX Settings subfolder in the bb folder, in several text files that start with plugin_list* (different files for 64bit, 32bit, audio, and MIDI plugins). You can delete one or more of these files to start over.

3. You can do this by going to Options | MIDI Driver/Setup, and selecting the synth there.

Can the Thru track default plugin be different than the default for other tracks? I'd like my Pianoteq plugin to be the Thru default, since I almost always play piano there. I use the TTS 1 as my default VST/plugin in the MIDI settings.

You certainly should be able to do that with Pianoteq. Give it a try. Or if you don't have the setup, I can try here and let you know.

I use Pianoteq a lot on the Thru track, so that's no problem. But I'd like the Thru track to default to that as the pluging rather than me having to change it on every new song.

Got ya. The only way I know that you can do that is to create a "template" song which you have pre-set the THRU to Pianoteq and saved it. Use that as the starting point.
