This is such a great contest, let's kick it up a couple of notches laugh

The Power of Men

This song is about the people all over the world who were (often) forced to work.
This has happened a lot throughout the ages and is still happening right now.
After hours and hours of editing the song in Cubase something went terribly wrong and the project got corrupted
beyond repair. It left me completely desperate mad
Luckily there was Anne-Marie who managed to recreate the song by looking up
and pasting each audio sample back to its original location (this again took hours of work)......

When I finished the song I suddenly realised I used one of the Xtra Styles and thought:
"What the heck, why not post another one for the contest wink

PS:
As you see I created an account of my own, because apart from my work in RnAM, I also produce a lot of songs of my own.
Lately Anne-Marie (who has now also created an account of her own) is working on a couple of solo projects too.
We thought it might be confusing to post all our solo work as RnAM.

Lyrics:

The Power of Men

I pray, whenever life gets rough
On these windy grounds
Where it's taken all I have
Oh see, how these men will work together
Working with all their might
Working far away from home

And now we're breaking down again
As we work with the power of men,
Will we ever be free again

You see, you see we never had much chances
To be the lucky ones
To be the ones that live their dream

And as we face the day again
We will work with the power of men
Will we ever be free again

And now we're breaking down again
As we work with the power of men,
And as we face the day again
We will work with all we can
Will we ever be free again
Can we ever be free again
Will we ever live for real again.

Very strong performance on this Rob. Great job.

Rob:

P.S.

You say you want to kick it up a couple of notches.

How many notches you want to kick it up?

I need to know before October 1.

Thanks man.
Rob,

Another very strong vocal performance in a powerful song- it has an anthemic feel. It sounds like you had to sweat like the men in the song to rescue this- well worth the effort in the end!

Not too many notches left! Very nice.
Hi Rob,

Great subject matter and lyrics. Thank goodness Anne-Marie was able to rebuild the song back to its former glory. Your voice is very powerful on this especially the chorus. Very tasty guitar solo too.

Top notch indeed!

David,

Well, maybe one or two more?
I'm sure you can squeeze out another cool one with these styles grin
Not for me though, I had to bend over backwards to reach those high notes at the end crazy

Sweating it was, the vocal too, thank you Robert!
Wow, Rob, this is quite a powerful write, mix and production. Your vocals are stellar. Impressive submission.

Charlie

Thank you Receder much appreciated!
Tell me, is your nickname by chance based on a line out of Pink Floyd's 'Comfortably Numb' - "There is no pain you are receding"?
Comfortably Numb, by the way, is my second favorite song of all times ;-)

Thanks Charlie, I did my best ;-)
Great powerful ballad with a strong interpretation, would be a great song to play during the end credits of a top gun type of a movie smile Even the title of the song is kind of iconic! Always great to hear the pedal steel 2542, I think it is one of the best real tracks.

Janne
Thank you John, that is appreciated!
great !

Thank you Janne,

Luckily I had a chance to watch Top Gun in the cinema when I was still young ;-)
You're definitely right, the pedal steel 2542 is one of the best RTs.
