Nomad of the Heart

wouldn`t you like to ride
said the clown with toad eyes
ride around the mirrorball of heaven?
he took me by surprise
changing horses at the time
at the last 7-11

back then she was all the rage
a psychic doctor named Sage
chose me to ascend with the Master
it might have been the sun
but in her eyes I saw a gun
with one bullet in the chamber

oh father, is it time?
to go to that big empty in the desert and the bars
where wolves circle in a forest of stars
time to be a nomad
a nomad of the heart

I met a girl named Hourglass
it seemed strange but I let it pass
and for me she danced the whirlwind
I thought I`d found the promised land
when I saw her counting grains of sand
as around her room we`d spin

out below this big blue curve
there`s some truths you gotta swerve
the vultures are wearing suits and collars
but I don`t think the flood will wait
`til make all that`s crooked straight
and I gave that clown my last dollar

oh father, is it time?
to go to that big empty in the desert and the bars
where wolves circle in a forest of stars
time to be a nomad
a nomad of the heart

Robert, I really like this. One change I would make would be to take out the "click-in" and just let it start with the wolf howling. The clicks detract from the mysteriousness of start of the song.

Very cool and the style works really well with it.

Oops... Thanks for the heads up about the clicks- reminds me I shouldn`t post a track while suffering from Post Traumatic Production Disorder!
Glad you liked the song.

Same thought here. But great song!!! I really enjoyed it. Good luck with the contest. This is a very solid entry.

Now that I heard this, I don't think the worst song ever written in the history of country--which I posted last week--stands a snowball's chance, but I can still hope and dream and pray.

David,

Great that you liked my song...and I don`t believe you are throwing in the towel- just getting ready take it up those other notches before month`s end!

Man,

I'm sitting here staring at my guitar now and I don't know what to do.

Maybe I will figure out something.

Robert,

This definitely has that country/cowboy feeling ;-)
I love that Badland style, almost used it myself.

Hi Robert,

Loved this and especially the eery/mysterious vibe going on.

I thought it would fit perfectly in the film Mulholland Drive.

Cheers

Robert,
I'll echo my comment already made on the extra styles contest forum:

ooh I haven`t seen that great movie in a long time - the mystery came from listening to some old Dylan tunes from his John Wesley Harding period.
