This was originally a finger-picking song which didn't hit that spot and dedicated to Elvis, Freddie Mercury, John Lennon, David Bowie, and the musician mates lost in the last 2 years Gary, Stroudie, Alan, Albert and Dick the dogs ( long story hahaha)

SO vocals loaded into BIAB and then the song changed for the better because of the contest.

Angels can sing Rock and Roll

At least there's something we now know
there's no reason for him to go
but the difference in the way we speak and hold it tight oh no-o
at least there's something we now know
we now know angels can sing rock and roll

there's still a lot that we got left
all the memories just won't fade
gones the difference in the way we speak and hold it tight oh no-o
at least there's something we now know
we now know angels can sing rock and roll

aah just a king
ooh just a king
I'll never know
if it's gonna come true like they say
might as well do as they say
it doesn't matter

all as one we feel the same
each feels different as a name
but the difference in the way we speak and hold it tight oh no-o
at least there's something we now know
we now know angels can sing rock and roll

ooh just a king
ooh just a king
I'll never know
if it's gonna come true like they say
might as well do as they say
it doesn't matter
anymore

enjoy

Alyn,

I will echo my comment to this song on the showcase:

I was waiting for an explosive change somewhere on the first third of the song,
(Because I really love that in your songs!) but that didn't come.......
what did come was a very cool transition, Very effective chord change like we've come to know so well in your music.

Rob
thanks Rob,

I do go quiet sometimes LOL and this song is one of the few I have written that uses a PG style verbatim. Although I am working on some more quiet songs.

Thanks for the comment grin laugh

Hi Alyn,

Loved this song. Highlights for me were:

- Vocal sound in the "ooh just a king" part
- chord progression was interesting and I loved the change on "we now know angels can sing rock and roll"
- Melancholy feel - the song fitted the style perfectly

Great job.

Having heard YOUR songs your praise is gratefully received, thank you.
I am glad you liked the chords, they seemed to logically appear one night as I strummed my guitar in front of the TV!
And yes beautiful style

Take care and all the best

I really enjoyed your song.
First, I like your voice. It's very expressive, almost Lennon-ish. And that comes from someone like me who idolize John Lennon ...
Also, I liked your chord progression - unusual enough to make it interesting.
Most of all, I like the concept of your song - brilliant.
Keep it up!

Thanks for the lovely comments, I appreciate them a lot!
I liked Lennon's music and the way George Martin recorded his voice, by inventing flanging apparently!!

Thanks for the comment about the chords, they appeared on my guitar whilst I was watching TV one night. Ended up in the dog house tho' from the dearest wifie grin

thanks again

Alyn
