Lonely Days Of Destiny

Style: _WAYSIDE
Category: Country

I had a dream in which I had written a song called Lonely Days Of Destiny. I heard couple of bars from this country song in the dream. The title sounded so good that I felt I had to make it for real, but otherwise I had free hands to do it. When the new Xtra styles were released, I watched the introduction video and immediately noticed that _WAYSIDE.STY was ideal for my song, so I had no other choice than to buy the styles smile. And here it is, reconstructed from this minimal input data. This song was definitely destined to take part in this great contest smile I hope my interpretation of a country song does not offend the purists wink

I hired Johnny and June Rob and Anne-Marie to do the vocals and what a fantastic job they did once again!

Lyrics:

Lonely days of destiny
cheerless days that no-one hears about
days that are all akin
old does not end
and new does not begin.
Lonely days of destiny
that could be the title of my song
filled with thousand clichéd rhymes
that have been used 5 million times
no phrases strong,
no leaps for the mankind
just verses boring and long.

They say the fortune
is written in stardust
you can read my life
in the brown ink of rust
these lonely days are unjust.

Lonely days of destiny
pointless days that no-one reads about
grey has just one shade
the future's not built
and history's not made.
Lonely days of destiny
that could be the title of my book
filled with thousand empty lines
without the spark of Frankenstein
a lifeless look of a
frustrated reader
a story, no catch, no hook.

They say...

When finding a friend is uncertain goldmining
you can't share the cloud with a nice silver lining
then pick up your pencil and earn from your misery
moments in losers' days of destiny
just like me.

They say...
these lonely days: rich and just.

I really like this! I love those "dream songs"--that is the absolute coolest.

Wonderful arrangement. Gorgeous work with the guitars.

But I don't understand the part about Johnny. He shows up anytime I call him, and takes a little break from heaven.

He does tell me that the country music up there is A LOT better than it is down here, though.

Isn't that strange? Except for this song of course!!!

Once again it was a pleasure to work with Janne on a...... country song this time.
Now at first glance this song sounds relatively simple, but there's a catch, Janne's songs are never simple ;-)
In the bridge there is a very tricky moment in the "moments in losers" part (a very nice dropping note).
I remember one or two lines in the choruses I had trouble singing correctly. So we thought, let's just copy these lines to the final chorus (after the solo).
No sir, it turned out to be modulated (we had no idea).

Good work from our Finland songwriter.

Thanks David for your positive and funny comment smile Unfortunately, I don't remember what really happened in this dream. It could have happened that I visited heaven and Johnny played me his heavenly song there and now I have stolen it and I will be punished with eternal (ring of) fire wink

Thanks Alyn for liking the story, the song and singing smile I have made several songs originally 'heard' in a dream, but it has also happened several times that I have later realized that it was not my song frown I hope it won't happen this time and this song will become a new 'Yesterday' smile smile
