I am using BIAB 2008 in Windows 10 and when I am installing half way through the installation I get this message 'String NO SUPPORT_OS was not found in string table' when I click to remove that message I get a further message which just says 'NO SUPPORT_OS' click that off and the programme continues to install. Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it. I had the same problem in Windows 7. And the same problem with BIAB 2013, I just prefer 2008. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

My initial thought is BiaB 2008 might be a 16 bit program. I'm not sure when PG Music made the transition from a 16 bit program to 32 bit program.

I believe in Windows 10 you can right click on the installer executable to select install as administrator and select a comparability mode.

I don't recognize this message offhand - are you installing via discs, USB flash drive, download links, etc?

Some quick Googling suggests it could be a registry problem of some kind. Try running CCleaner to clean up the registry on your computer and see if it detects anything. Other people were saying this helps when getting the same error message in other programs.

Dave S,

Did the error message also present a digit error code; a digit error code can help narrow down what is causing the issue.

An internet search gives two possible solutions, an operating system function the installation program needs is not available or there is a problem with the installation path.

Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 don't include many of the files present in the 32 bit version of Windows XP. Instead the operating systems mimic or emulate functions the removed files performed. It may be that functions the 2008 Band-in-a-Box for Windows requires during installation are not present in Windows 10.

When you right click on the 2008 Band-in-a-Box for Windows installation program what happens when you select the "troubleshoot compatibility" wizard? A box with two options should appear; "Try Recommended Settings" and "Troubleshoot Program". What happens when you try recommended settings?
