Hello everybody

I have bought the ‚Omni Package’ of PG Music and never regretted it. One thing that really amazed me was that it included even 2 vocal harmony learning units (the Barber Shop and Bach Chorale) which are great to get prepared to sing in a vocal a capella harmony choir.

I’m a guitarist playing and singing in a country band (besides other projects) and what I would really like to learn is the old style Gospel and Bluegrass singing. In my opinion this is a vocal harmony style that distinctly differs from the more classical approach of harmony singing in that there are ‘bends’ and ‘bluenotes’ eg. There is a bluesy approach to it and its roots go back to gospel and to the african brothers and sisters who were given the freedom to express themselves in christian songs. A really great heritage that would make a fabulous BB-learning unit.

What do you think about my idea?

Sorry, I don't want to offend anyone. I am not sure it goes back to black influence only, I am referring more to the stlye of singing bends and bluenotes which is so unique in both styles. I have just bought a DVD named 'Vocal Harmony Workshop' by the Nashville Bluegrass Band which highly recomendable. It's just fun to sing along with these old time bluegrass and gospel songs and practice the different parts.

I don't know if PG music will pick up this idea, but I think if well done this could be their best sold vocal learning unit and help people have fun and use their own God-given instrument. It would probably be a better idea to separate the two styles and make one Bluegrass and one Gospel unit each with some of the most important and beautiful songs on it.

I'd be the first to buy them, anyone else who might be interested???
