Has anyone addressed this with the powers that be?

I've called tech support 2 times about the following issue.

I bought 2012 in February, 8 months ago, and according to customer service a few minutes ago, there have been NO fixes made to 2012.

Here's the glitch . . .

EX: track 1, midi/piano. Mono. Right.

Render to audio. Audio becomes stereo audio track.

Go to audio editor window. You have some "sound" in the left track because of reverb bleed over onto left track.
No problem. That's common.

Use the drop down and select "LEFT track only". Highlight the entire left track. Hit Delete.

EVERYTHING deletes! Left AND right!

So now I have to go thru numerous additional steps to get one clean, right piano audio track.

1). Insert 2 additional tracks.

2). Split the audio track into 2 tracks.

3). Delete the unwanted track.

4). Delete the original stereo track.

5). Rename the one I kept.

Now do this for the other 8 to 10 (or more) tracks! Pain in the hind end!

Tech support said to watch the site for patches/fixes.

I've been watching for ANY fixes to 2012 to show up on the site. NONE! Nada!

Anyone aware of another walk around? This glitch has added approx 50% to the time it takes me to make my backing tracks.

And that adds up to approx 2 lost nights a week! About 16 extra hours a week editing audio tracks that used to work right.

2010, no problem. 2012 . . . UGGHHHHH!!!!!!

I responded in the other thread, with confusion. I see what you are doing now. I'm so use to editing in the tracks view, that I wasn't even thinking of the audio edit view. Hmmmm, it does seem like it doesn't work correctly. I'll take a look and see what I can find and compare it to RealBand to see if it works there.
Hi, Wayne (Harpmeister):

Hmm...

Just tried it in RealBand and it doesn't seem to work there either. This seems to be a bug. Maybe some other folks can try it and see if we're both missing something.

I'll cross post in the Realband forum, as well.
It's a glitch. Confirmed that with tech support in February.

Still waiting for the fix. 8 months.

I'm about ready to go back to 2010. This version is disappointing.
Many of the new features messed up what was already a good working
system.

Like how you turn off/on solo tracks now. Ugghhh. CHANGE IT BACK!
If you changed the checkbox in audio preferences to mono tracks (instead of stereo) you'd have a correct track to begin with. Select to record L, or R, or both but on separate tracks. Problem goes away.

just sayin
Yes, you can go to separate tracks, but there are times when you are working with a stereo track and need to edit left versus right. Not a big deal, because you can go mono, but the feature is there (in the audio edit window), so it would seem that it should work as advertised.
OK, right out of their HELP topic page:

If a track is Stereo, you’ll see a combo box that has the following 3 choices: Edit Both Ch., Edit Left Ch., and Edit Right Ch. You can edit both the left and right channels or just one of them.

The current time within the song, if visible within the Audio Edit Window, will be shown as a vertical line in red. This will be drawn in reverse video if the current time is within the selected region.

This does not work anymore. It did in all previous versions. And according to tech support, it's a glitch.

And I use this function all the time. Well, I USED to! It's especially useful for panning effects. Gradually fading out left side while fading in right side. All in one window. Not two separate tracks.

Also, to Just Sayin . . . Thanks for the tip. But I can't find any radio button for stereo vs. mono. I went to Preferences/Audio. There is a button to select Left, Right or L&R. I can't find a "Mono or Stereo" button.

And I don't record anything. I'm talking about rendering, not recording.
Ahh, then recording to mono won't work for you. Sorry.
For the record you record to mono by setting to L&R, then record onto a track with the type set to Mono audio track.
RB will put left side on that ttrack, and right side on next available track.

This L/R edit feature you refer to did work at one point, I remember trying it.
Yep. I use it daily. Um, used to! I got an email today
from PG. They said it's now working in Real Band 12.5, but
not PT.

Got a 2nd email saying it probably won't be fixed until the
next PT version is out.

Maybe someday. In the meantime, I'm going back to 2010,
while I look for a new company with a good editor.

Too bad. I've been using PT since 7.0.
I am still using PowerTracks 2011 in which the Edit Audio Window works correctly for the left and right channels of a stereo wave. Something happened for the 2012 versions of PT and RB.
