I’ve been preaching this for a long time however I thought I’d post it to the “Tips & Tricks” forum.
If you are using any of the Creative cards listed below you owe it to yourself to check out the free KX drivers for this card. It transforms it into a totally different piece of gear. You get true ASIO from a SBLive 5.1 card.
Here are some links to check out for yourselves. The features are just to numerous to list. I’m a slow typer. Feel free to ask any questions.

Hi Silvertones,

Thanks for posting the info - since reading your posts on this subject and your enthusiasm for it - I have been able to experience the many new opportunities it allows in most of the Soundblaster range.

Thanks again I am a convert.

Looks a bit complicated ! Im still not sure what the benefits would be.
Does it only improve the playback, or will it improve recording ?
Thanks for posting.

Make sure you check out this DSP guide first. It explains everything. The KX mixer as downloaded IS complicated however this tutorial explains how musicians can benefit.
With an SBLive 5.1 card you have REAL ASIO ability for recording. No ASIO if you use Creative drivers. You can also create and save all of your DSP configurations. For playback each MIDI channel can be split up to go to different FX Busses with effects for each instrument as you choose. See one of my playback setups below. With KX the front and rear speaker outs are swap thus utilizing the better I2S codec as opposed to AC97.

Make sure to get the latest edition which is 3538m. 3539 is out but still going through some debugging. Don't go to the web site as it's not quite up to date.

Wow! Kx seems the fix for problem Creative software...however it seems a mighty plunge for the faint of heart. Though the links are clear in explanation, the solution...should anyone ever have the time or inclination...would be step by step instuctions from install onward, and with Power Tracks in mind, as they seemed to have done with Cubase. At that point, i would happily take the leap.....but without that guiding hand - the trepidation of 'fubar' just hangs a bit too closely overhead.

Thanks for everyone's generous input-
