Any basic/advanced tips on Creating your own Styles?

The "Secrets of the Stylemaker" video over on the PGMusic support pages is THE place to start getting started.

According to Machiavelli, the first rule of strategy (and it sure needs that if you want to create your own styles) is 'Think Before Acting'

If you don't, anything after that is merely firefighting

Mind you, with RB and RTs, you don't even have to do that - just decide on your musicians before you 'generate'! (Well, I suppose that does fit with Machiavelli too, eh?). The next step will be a programme to convert virtual music into notation that instrumentalists can play, I guess...

Try this: graft a 'real' (MIDI) drummer into a techno style, or vice versa. First Hybrid Style I made was to take the ZZ_MILLY drummer and put it into BERLYN.STY. Some things don't work at all, others are only okay, but when it's right . . . zowie!
