My RB has been crashing about every other session since I installed a M-Audio 2496 PCI card. The strange thing is, after the crash I go to reboot and get a message that biab is running. When I select the option to go to program to shut it down, I see the biab chord builder window. I did not even have biab open during the session.

Where could that be coming from?

thanks
martin
Are you using ASIO with RB for M-Audio? If so back back down to MME i have never be able to make ASIO work well with RB. I also have a 24/96 card.
I selected ASIO because it had the "enable input monitoring" option. I can't seem to monitor when recording with MME.
What i do is attach a small mixer to the 24/96 and that allows me to monitor from the mixing source without any latency. Something simple and cheap like this. http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-XENYX-802-Mixer?sku=631263 I had one of these for a long time until i aquired a Yamaha for real cheap. I gave away the Behringer and wish i still had it today!
I have a Yamaha MG10/2 that I was using. It's 48v phantom power has started humming bad. I now just go straight from an Art StudioV3 Voiced Valve PreAmp into the 2496. So I can't monitor at the ART. Would there be any issues with recording using ASIO drivers, saving, and doing everything else like generating realtracks, and mixing using MME? I haven't crashed while recording.....yet. It is usually afterwards when I hit the "rewind" button.
Hi mnich,

I switch between ASIO and mme just as you describe and it's never created an issue for me. Don't be afraid to experiment. As long as you keep a copy of your original work so that you can get back to it if the experiments end in disaster, you will lose nothing.

Noel
Plus the good old backup folder with the next most recent copy saved..
Is the enable input monitoring selection available in RB or the Delta?
You want the one on the Delta. The input monitoring in RB eats a lot of resources. You mentioned it's available with ASIO only, and that sounds like the option in RB. In the Delta applet you should be able to select input monitoring in MME (I think, as most Deltas do)

[I replied to myself, I know ...]
Yes, I was monitoring in RB. I have found that in Win7x64, my Delta control panel is missing the routing tab, and is limited to that of the earlier ones showed when I had XP. Is that where I would enable monitoring?
I think so, you should be able to monitor thru the card.
Look closely at monitoring options, and see if there is a driver update for W7/64 bit drivers at the M-Audio site.
Hi Noel

How do you record live audio in your situation i do the same as you with real tracks and midi but a have not been able to record live audio as you can`t listen when you are using ASIO and you can`t record audio with MME

regards Dave
Hi Dave,

The only audio I record is vocals through a standard mic plugged into my sound card (i.e. not a USB mic). I downloaded and installed ASIO4ALL. This does the job well for me. I have selected Audio Set >> Enable input monitoring and that allows me to hear myself through the mic while the recording is in progress. ASIO4ALL gives me practically zero latency when recording vocals. (By comparison, when I used MME, there was a slight latency; when I tried my soundcard's (Audigy 2) ASIO drivers, the latency was very noticeable.)

All the best,
Noel
According to M-Audio all deltas allow realtime monitoring from inside the card, with control over the input signal and the rest of the mix-

"With "mixer" selected as the output source for outputs 1/2, you can now use the volume sliders on the Mixer page to control the levels of the various hardware inputs and software outputs going to your speakers. Turning up the levels for the inputs allows you to directly monitor your input source while recording, with virtually no latency."

Does this not work on 2496? I'm curious.
Works here but i have not used it recently as I use the external mixer for all that stuff.
I finally got my 2496 to monitor with MME, once I found the output to mixer option. And I haven't crashed RB since switching from ASIO to MME.

thanks everyone!
Yeah, the new drivers look different, but do perform the same functions .. just in a different place sometimes.
