RHARV has been kind enough to host the little program I built to do Factory Rsets for RB.Just DL the text file to your Desktop or anywhere else, change the extension from .txt to .bat( ignore the warning), create a shortcut to this file and place it on your Desktop. Now double clicking this file will automatically perform a Factory Reset of RB. Make sure RB is closed when doing this.BTW right click on the link and "save link as"

This should be a Sticky!
Posted By: silvertones Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/17/12 01:26 AM
Did you try it?
Posted By: Pat Marr Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/17/12 02:53 AM
hey John,

your little trick has bailed me out several times already!

Thanks, and good job!

Right, this app should be a sticky. Has bailed me out many times as I tend to tweak until it's broke. I keep this little app on the desktop for ready access.

I've just finished improving my program. It's now a standard executable and won't be so scary to use. There's a "Read Me" file to explain everything. Hopefully RHARV will have it up a t some point.

I tried it John! Works perfect and should be a sticky!

FWIW, John.... I find executables to be much scarier to use than a batch file. At least I can see EXACTLY what the batch file is going to do.

That's what I needed. Thanks
Posted By: silvertones Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/18/12 09:51 PM
Anyone want the new version that's easy to use, just double click on the file, send me a PM with an email address.

Just got home John, I'll check my email, but I have a suggestion.

If it is an executable many people will have antivirus problems when downloading and before you know I'm on a list for having susicious programs being hosted.
Can you zip it? Seems to be much more stable that way.

If you remember that's the same reason I left the original as a txt file instead of a bat file when I posted it for you.

sorry it took so long, had to rename it (I hate spaces in a file name)

Cool & thanks.Did you run it?
Posted By: rharv Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/19/12 12:39 AM
No
I haven't yet. I'd need to rename files and all that to run it. I don't want to actually reset this machine <grin> There are much simpler ones to test on. I thought about it and decided to wait.

*disclaimer - Johns files hosted by me come with no warranty from me ... and all that stuff.
There, hope I'm covered.

I hope that no one thinks I'd do anything malicious. It works very well and will be helpful.
BTW I sent it to Peter so maybe he'll endorse it.Just trying to share.

It was a joke John.

I tested the bat. I trusted you on the exe. It was scanned here though FWIW ..
seems fine.

I'll test downstairs in a bit. I just moved the OS on this machine and added more drive space.
Not a 'testing' machine right now if you know what I mean. I'm most of the way through an overhaul and getting re-set up. Just got RB back to pre-change condition on it last night after starting on this whole project Saturday night.
Which means I'm about on schedule but behind expected completion.

I know you were joking. It's just that people may be leery of an .exe file as Pat Marr pointed out.I await your endorsement.

Got error here when installing
sending screen capture via emsil

I like the notice about closing realband (which happened before the error), nice touch
Posted By: silvertones Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/19/12 01:53 AM
New to this. I THINK it's because I forgot to add the .bat file to the .exe
I'll redo tomorrow.
Posted By: silvertones Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/19/12 02:14 AM
Just sent a new one.
Posted By: rharv Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/19/12 02:22 AM
no change here
maybe more testing first?

I should have tested before posting actually
sorry
Posted By: silvertones Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/19/12 02:34 AM
Maybe someone else can try it. I even deleted the .bat files and it runs fine here. I need to try on another machine as well.
Posted By: silvertones Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/19/12 02:44 AM
I copied it to a thumb drive and then to another computer and it worked fine. I guess I need to hear from others as well. I sent it to Pat Marr and hopefully he'll try it.
Posted By: silvertones Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/19/12 02:53 AM
I get the error on my Win 7 lappy though.
Posted By: rharv Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/19/12 03:41 AM
tested on Win7 lappy here also

John,
just got it this morning before work. I have a work function to attend this evening, so I probably won't get a chance to try it until late tonight or Thursday. But I'll report back here ASAP

Thanks for including me in the test.
Posted By: silvertones Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/19/12 03:29 PM
Win 7 also contains "iexpress" I'll try compiling it in the Win 7 machine.
For now I guess Win XP only.
Posted By: silvertones Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/20/12 12:19 AM
Can't figure it out. I give up.
Posted By: rharv Re: Real Band Factory Reset - 12/20/12 02:56 AM
Sent you an email with a test version built in Visual Studio
