I’ve been having a lot of trouble trying to use Real-Drums in my pre recorded audio files.

I’ve rerecorded the tracks for better timing. The songs are now metronome perfect in 4/4 time at 120 bpm. Yet I can not get any of the Real Drum tracks to stay in sync for more than a dozen or so bars, even when using the ACW and tapping in the time as demonstrated by one of our members' Youtube tutorials.

I’ve been recording using an external mixer and importing the pre mixed audio files into Real Band, which I understand is not the best way to do this. I just can’t get a good sound quality when recording directly into Real Band of BB, most likely due to an inferior sound card in my PC and medium quality mic.

Several members have suggested a mixer with a better sound card, such as TasCam or PreSonus AutoBox.

I’m now considering buying the PreSonus AudioBox Studio 1 package that includes a M7 condenser mic, headphones and the Studio 1 software.

On the Youtube Tutorial linked below it says a midi file can be used to link virtual instruments to the guitar track see marker # 2214 where a bass track is played on a regular six string guitar and dragged down one octave making a finger bass sound.

It is implied that any virtual instrument can be duplicated in this way. What I need to know before buying this product is will it be compatible with Real Tracks, Real Drums and Real Band, or am I also going to have to purchase other virtual instruments.

I’m not sure if this link is allowed. It might be considered advertising, although it is a tutorial. Please fill in the DOT or remove link altogether if it against guidelines.

Oh my, where does one begin?
Horahack,

I can't speak to your actual question, but I'd jump on that AudioBox bundle. I paid $150 for my AudioBox alone about two years ago, while the bundle is selling at Guitar Center for $199.

I think you're okay with mentioning other products as long as it's in the direct context of use with PG Music products. Everybody else does.

HTH,

Richard
Thanks guys. I bought the bundle, been messing with it all night. I think the sound quality is very good. I recorded four tracks three vocals and one guitar. Sounds really good through the headphones, but I can not figure out how to export my work Seems to be no clear cut export as wav file option. I'm sure I have to bounce tracks or loop the tracks or set markers or something. Too tired to figure it out now, will start fresh tomorrow.

One thing I am concerned about is I can't get the drums to work or any of the preset instruments in the browse box. I can even audition the instruments. In the tutorial he just double clicks the instrument to hear it. When I Double click I get nothing I tried dragging the drums over from the browser box onto a new track, and it lists the Drums as a new track, but there is no sound. I guess I have a lot of reading to do.

First day of school, guys.
Okay. I figured out how to set markers and export a wav file in the Studio 1-2 AudioBox software, but still can not get any of the virtual Instruments to work, or the FX, nothing in the browser panel works.

However, I did run the exported session through Audacity and cleaned up the mix removing room noise adding some compression and tweaking the equalizer. I'm sure this all could have been done in Studio 1, but I'm more familiar with Audacity.

Then I imported the wav file into Real Band and added a Real Drum Track and much to my surprise, it worked perfectly. Real Drums perfectly in sync for the whole 92 bars. I was so excited I added six more drum tracks just to see if they would all be in sync. They were. Even more excited, I added the Real Tracks organ and Bass.

What's funny is, the song I was messing around was Amazing Grace in three part harmony. Now with all those drums, the electric bass and Leslie Speaker sound of that organ, the whole mix came out sounding like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on steroids, but at least it worked.

I did manage to export just a Real Drum track from RealBand onto my desktop. I was able to drag the drum file into the Sample 1 in the Studio 1 Browser. It showed up in the Sampler 1 Interface, but still would not work. Not sure why this isn't working for me, but I'm not giving up. Has to be user error.
